We, well some of us, have our FLICA access but are not authorized to bid yet. That is supposed to be sorted by Monday from what I hear. But….November? That is a long time to wait to move your newly awarded base while somebody in the July class possibly holds it before sims.

How long to get off reserve is an impossible question to answer. Prior to COVID people were on reserve well less than a year. The current junior guys have probably been on reserve over a year and a half and counting. Now who knows? In my opinion the fact they are hiring through the summer means they anticipate growth to be pretty stout. If that’s the case I assume the time on reserve will continue to be in the 6-12 month range. The latest vacancy (posted today) shows PHL growing by 6 pilots which I would take as a good sign also.

I realize in the grand scheme of things this makes very little difference. But if you have a kid due in a few months it might make a huge difference.

Perhaps I wasn’t clear and if so I apologize. I was making a distinction being awarded vs being able to move to that particular base. The example: Say a person hired in June wasn’t awarded PHL when hired but wanted it. Now a month later they and a new hire in the July class get awarded PHL. Cool! But…That June hire will now need to wait until Nov. to move/not commute vs the July hire would be able to move there in Sept or upon completion of sims? Is this scenario correct?

is that what happened? Doesn’t look like any new hires were awarded any position on the system 2021-05 bid. Everyone had a current position and it was a realignment bid. Looks like this bid will determine where new hires will go in seniority order. I could be wrong because I don’t know how new hires bid and don’t feel like looking it up. The contract will give you insight into the process but it’s basically bump and flush.

2020 notwithstanding, it's seems like we've been behind our 5 year plan forever. Getting 10 airplanes, the best we can do is 6. Oh 2022 will be a big year, yeah it'll be 24 now.
I hope someone can prove me wrong with real numbers, but it definitely feels like that.
