Attrition-yes. To the magnitude of Spirit- it doesn’t sound like it. According to our system bid 6 captains as Planedrive said but we actually accomplished our displacement bid for better or worse and I don’t know how many new captain spots were awarded from that vs downgrades.

I wish I had tracked class sizes closer to have actual numbers of attrition for you. All I can say for certain is 40% of my class has left in 10 months. But it seems the rest of us are pretty content here and even, dare I say, happy here.

OK, so your lack of upgrades is the plan? We originally planned to upgrade something like 30+ a month, but attrition killed it and its down to around 10 or less. We have hired over 200 people this year, but a net gain of only 60.

Interesting. I don't think our (F9) attrition has been nearly that bad. I don't know why it wouldn't be about the same but I don't think it is.

But yes, to answer your question, we have seen less upgrades than planned and I'm sure it's at least partially due to attrition and partially due to closing Chicago

Default Training Commuting

Training transportation question my new hire friend can't find an answer to over the weekend. Going to/from home during initial training. Any positive space travel and if so how to you do it? Also required jump seat time...what is the priority and is there any special method to sign up for it or just the normal method? TIA!

No positive space. Jump seat varies by carrier, some you list at the gate, some you list prior online.

Thank you. Sorry I didn't specify F9 for JS legs that are required.

you will be required to complete 4 legs of line flight observation during groundschool. Many new hires align those flights in the jumpseat with travel

Are they “must ride” Jumpseat flights or system seniority? Sorry for the million questions.

it was must ride except to domiciles last I remember? To many issues with pilots commuting to work getting bumped. That’s when they carved out the domicile exception.

No I am pretty sure that was not the plan. But neither was the entire recruiting department leaving within a 3 month span. Since we have gotten that back on track things seem to be going according to the original plan.
