What are people doing for food in ground school? Is it advised to pack a lunch?

Stayed at a standard Courtyard nearby (not bad actually). Which means limited room space and even more limited fridge. You’ll go to HQ for a few days, the rest at Airbus. They both have these kiosk markets where you can get some fresh made salads and sandwiches. They’d not restocked every day but nice when they do. Costco and King Soopers do delivery. I think it was $10 fee on an order. You can get some sandwich items, fruit, mix of refrigerated and non refrigerated foods, to get by. Some people also went to a store.

I only went home once during ground school, and subsisted on the market foods and grocery delivery. For sim, I went home between blocks (mine was like 5 on 5 off). I brought some meals with me, and then supplemented with the market at Airbus. Idk what people did in the other locations like MCO. Skipped the breakfast at the hotel. Over $10 for a breakfast sandwich, or at Wooley’s like $15 for an above-average buffet, not really my thing.

tks.

Received Cadet offer in early Feb, achieved ATP mins in mid March, just got a June class date. They told us 2-4mo delays and that seems to check out pretty well from ATP mins for me.

I'm a RTP guy (R-ATP mins complete). I was hired at a MTC Event in early January, completed the HQ onboarding in Denver the following week. I'm still waiting for an ATP/CTP class date. I was told to expect June timeframe. So if that's the case, it'll be roughly 5ish months for me.

Just curious, how are the 1500h pilots doing in training and on the line?

Not trying to be flippant…but it depends. I’ve flown with the Riddle, Purdue, ATP pilots and some are great and some it’s easier to see their lack of experience. Some of them finish the program in the designed footprint while others need extra training (FTD, sim or IOE) but I don’t hear many stories of these pilots not completing their training.

Most girls and boys I have flown with from the above programs have been nothing but fantastic. We still get the top something’s of those programs and their attitude, willingness to learn and knowledge impressed me a lot. You can teach someone how to fly an airplane. You can’t change who they are. I have been very impressed with them so far and will bend over backwards to get them where they need to be. I’ll fly with them any day

When I was in class
Our brightest peer was a joy
They flew at Purdue

This airplane and a lot of the day-to-day job duties are significantly easier than my regional time. They’ve been hiring nonstop (well, almost) 1500 1250 and 1000 hour guys for a decade now; before that obviously significantly less time. I don’t get why so many people want to dunk on them, all of us were new to a jet unless you were one of the military guys (and then we can mention how they strap you into a turboprop, or a turboshaft helicopter, on day 1, so the point stands).

They seemed as eager and sharp in class, as anyone else. Ground school was laid back since historically we all knew generic jet systems, how to read a release, alternate weather exemptions. If anything they needed just a little bit more time to get up to speed on that. But we got through it in regional ground school, they got through it here even if it took a little extra study. I think your point is apt; it’s not just every CFI, they’re still a small selection of a candidate pool.

Probably as well or better than the 1500h pilots were doing on a Brasilia

It seems the company are advertising, (and have been for quite some time) position for Australians under the E3 visa program.

https://www.airlineapps.com/jobs/det...ficer-E-3-Visa

Are they still actively hiring from this route or is this merely a place holder ?

I wonder how many Aussies actually made it to F9 ?
