Am I the only one here who remembers working at the regionals earning less then the Flight Attendant while being told "we can't afford to pay you any more then what you are making because we had to train you" I wonder what those FO's make now?

You can bet your bottom dollar Management will say anything and everything to keep the labor costs low. I would wager they end up with a percentage of the savings.

Just look at this company When I got hired the pay was $35/hr within a few years that got boosted to $100/hr I am sure that money just fell right out of the sky. It's funny how much you can afford when you don't have a choice. Same with the bonuses when they were giving them out.

Here is some quick and dirty math
New fo training =100,000
2 years fo salary =220,000
training events = 30,000
Avg hours = 1000
F9 pays roughly $350/hr for avg FO that leaves at the two year mark.

Arguably less hours than avg.... Most new pilots here never fly and will do maybe 400hrs their first 2 years.

I like the logic, but I don't think training a new FO costs anywhere close to 100k.

Good point. It was 150k with the bonus. Not to mention what the company is paying for the cadet stipend.

Brings up a good question. Have they been recovering that bonus if people leave or was that an empty threat?

They email you within a few business days of submitting your resignation.

I can tell you they went after all those American Eagle kids who took those retention bonuses during COVID and bounced. There were a few here at F9, which is how I know. Some of them even went to AA which is kinda funny.

They told me it started with emails, calls from their former CPs, and eventually letters from lawyers.

The other problem was the taxation. They had to pay back the full amount. Not the amount they received after taxes. Which was substantial. Like thousands of dollars.

is this hiring/training contract bonus different from that retention bonus? Or whatever they’re calling these things. Idk. Not a lawyer.

There might still be a forum on this in either PSA/ENVOY/PIEDMONT. You could read more there

Question……. after applying, does everyone automatically receive the assessment? Or if you get the assessment and complete it, does that mean you are in the que for an upcoming interview invite?

I got my interview invite the following day after completing the assessment.
