Meanwhile I have been on reserve at home and have only touched the plane 3 times in the last month. It has been great. What would be better? more days off, longer call outs, auto releasing on last day after X time. Better rules..... Im sure those DEN guys are loving how he says reserve doesn't matter while they enjoy 2-4 years of reserve 18 years into their career.

Pre pbs we could bid based on what our seniority could hold. If you wanted C with weekends off you could bid that. I’d take Long call weekends off over a crap line. Now you are at the mercy of the solver.

there’s a weekend off statement that’s honored with any position bid. You could not bid for specific days off with paper bid unless the paper bid lined up exactly with the days off you wanted that bid period. Try again.

I sat reserve for 8 years pre PBS, I don't remember reserve lines having all weekends off. One or two, maybe, but never all.

I’ll stop beating around the bush. The problem is I can’t bid position and days off simultaneously. I could technically do that with line bid but I could not specify days off. That could be argued a contract violation per the original pbs loa. Paraphrasing, No current abilities can go away. That ability needs to come back imo. Programming that allows both simultaneously. The reason it doesn’t exist now is because nobody else currently using navblue has this ability. Or if they do it’s a separate process.

The new contract needs 15 days off for reserves.

More days off for sure.
As a side note. Did you know several other agreements have the ability to move days off?

I like that without needing to ask the scheduling managers for permission 3 days prior. Enough coverage however far out should be that same as dropping a trip as a line holder and the DDL.

Wouldn’t be that hard to get more days off if the reserve day was worth 4.5-5+ per day.

You could also encourage reserve to go more senior if it had more perks such as those listed above and something like greater of flightime or reserve obligation for the day. Nothing ****es me off more than working for more than 4 hours to get paid for four hours.

Making it go more senior also helps out our commuter friends so they can hopefully get more lines sooner and less hotel/crash pad obligations. I’m open to other ideas.

Th problem with your first paragraph is lineholders are not tied to a res grid and res I believe are?. If thier not you still really don’t want rdp clogging the grid so either way separate process. The last thing we want is to tie lineholder open time drop/swap/trade to a res grid. I’d be open to some other process that makes drop/swap/trade rdp easier because right now it’s not.

There is no value to a rdp. A drop cost you 4 credit. Making that credit higher and attaching a value to it would be something worth pursuing. Increasing the value would basically force more days off. The other way would be to lower guarantee on res schedules. Bad idea. That’s a give and you’ll never get equal value for it.

Forcing res to go more senior imo should be a goal. One way to do that is go from first in first out to seniority. Like almost anything else there is downside to that system. Jr pilots get abused. Something to contemplate come poling time.

Yes I should have specified the first paragraph better to just making it a similar add/drop/swap system but. But not one that’s tied to DDL. Just the already required reserve coverage for the day. You say you need 5 RSL and we have 6 on a Saturday…swap.

Nope not a fan of reducing credit value for reserve lines. Not one bit. I always figured the inferred value was about 4 since that’s what it costs me to drop a day.

Agree that sounds good at first glance but I don’t think would actually be good.
