Agreed.
Granted, the bases I've flown at have been less hostile and I will stand up for the cadets. But, why would any of them want to stay in a pilot group that despises them for no fault of their own?
They showed up when they were offered to. They did the training to the standards they were asked to. Shame on those captains, I say. Another reason I won't look back when I'm gone.

You guys need to stop acting like cadets are the issue...
Plenty on Non cadets picking up all the premium and trips around the system.
Guess what? Most people want to fly, want to consolidate, need to make money.... They pick up everything they can. There is no OT anymore. Premium is taken by the same 8 individuals who credit 100+ every month, with not a care in the world about anyone else, and most of these people are CAs with over 5 years here.

I think this sums up a lot of it. It’s an attitude thing. I’ve talked to just about everyone I fly with about this issue and a lot of new hires…largely cadets have the same attitude…”I’m leaving anyway so who cares”. They’ll hoard open time just to throw it on the trade board, snatch up terrible premium offerings in a millisecond. All with a disregard of their fellow pilots. It’s a “me me me” mentality that rubs folks the wrong way. Humility and integrity go a long way.
Couple that with the large number of “qualified” pilots that still can’t land the plane and it’s no wonder captains feel a certain way.

I get it it’s your first airline, there’s a learning curve, but when you want to disregard common sense and contractual language good riddance. You’re a legacy problem now.

If you have equal numbers of captains and FOs, the lines will be built equally since each flight requires 1 of each. My guess is an equal amount of open time is available to FO/CA. Captains throwing shade on FO's picking up open time is hypocritical since they, as a group, are picking up just the same.
Now if CAs were getting junior manned, extended, etc. and FOs were just gobbling up OT, I could see the argument. However, I haven't seen those occurrences mentioned in any of the threads.
