Understandable. I tend to agree with you. You're close enough to attend then have the mins in time for an interview. Well assuming you're not some 91 guy cleaning hangers and not flying. But these are just my thoughts, I don't know for certain how they'll view it, but can't imagine they wouldn't talk with you. Best of luck sir!

Thank you, my good man.

Do many guys commute home during the weekends during initial? Is F9 okay with that?

As long as you are back in time. You will have to do 4 observation flights so you can do that while you commute home. I do however not recommend going home very much. You will be buried in the books during training. If you go home, you might not study and you may fail your oral. A few that I know have because of the distractions. You have a lot to learn. Just plan on 2 months of no life.

It would be a waste of 4 good positive space rides not to use them to go home! And to the point of going home on weekends = increased risk of failure, I would simply say: Just handle all of your responsibilities like the adult that you are, and you can have your cake and eat it too.

Is it limited to just 4 flights, or can you do more if you'd like? That actually seems like a pretty good setup for a commuter.

I emailed Gina every single week and got a positive space jump seat for my commute both ways. I just told her I needed extra observations (which I felt was true... can't have too many, type of thing). They are perfectly fine with that. Just have a plan and don't miss a commute.

Just don't do it if you live in Chicago, probably now Orlando too. You'll **** off the 20+ guys who commute from Denver to there. Had that happen in July and there was a major dust up.
Nothing like getting bumped off the jumpseat on the way home by a new hire. Not trying to be a jerk but have an idea of how many guys commute to or from where you live before you decide to bypass earlier flights with open seats to positive space on the oversold flight with 10 non-revs listed.

Good point. I suppose there is a way to see how full the flight is and if there is someone listed for the jump seat? (How many jump seats in each aircraft?) Other than for an observation flight, can we use the FA's jump seat if it's unoccupied?

Thanks!

You cannot list for the jumpseat. You can list for the flight though. The way to see the loads and list on flight is ID90. FA Jumpseat is a yes for F9 pilots only. No OAL pilots can sit on them. Just remember that any FA from F9 has priority over you on their jumpseat. Two cockpit jumpseats.
