I've heard it can be as much as 50/50 when it is operationally necessary. I personally flew about 350 hours last year with about 40 of it in the right seat. You are paid the same no matter where you sit. A DEC from my class picks up open time on his days off (he is on reserve and lives near his base) this ensures he will get left seat flying on those
days and gives him a nice pay check. He has been crediting over 100 hours a month while flying at least 40 hours. He came here for PIC time and found a great, albeit busy way of doing so. I did the same thing last year, I only had one month of crediting 75 hours last year because I would pick up 1-4 days of flying each month.

Is ORD or DEN obtainable out of training?

As a Captain it will take you over a year to hold Denver. We did just have some movement in that base so I'm looking forward to the next seniority list update. Our first
officers are getting their pick of the bases very fast, a few weeks ago we had multiple First Officers move into DEN directly out of training but that wasn't the case last month. ORD tends to be junior for Captains. Two of us DEC's in my January 2017 class held lines in ORD multiple times last summer and fall. I expect that seniority level to hold a line next month and hopefully through the summer in ORD. But please don't plan on that being the case. It's always best to plan for reserve as a Direct Entry Captain.

What is your commuter policy? paid parking? commuter hotels?

Four commuter hotels will be provided when requested by the pilot each month. Additionally, you may request additional commuter hotels if you are commuting in for a trip the night before a trip that starts before 11:00am if it was assigned in your long call window.

I am a commuter from MSP-ORD and I commuted to STL for a while and find it pretty easy. Sure I miss flights sometimes but I haven't yet needed the commuter policy. To utilize it you need to plan to arrive at your base 30 minutes before your report time. Additionally you need to list on a flight that departs one hour before the final attempt leg.

Parking is paid in base or reimbursed up to $40/month.
My MSP parking costs $54 so it's only $14 after my reimbursement.

Is there a chance you will lose the delta owned 700's? If so how will this effect hiring?

I don't believe this will happen, we have great performance with both of our carrier partners. It sure has been a popular rumor lately that has not been verifiable on my end. I'm at my third airline now and spent a good portion of time flying business jets, if half the rumors I heard came true every regional would have been out of business and also the biggest operator of jets over the past 12 years! I lose no sleep over the future of GoJet.
Thanks for the questions.

The only concern I've seen is from people who believe rumors. Would you cut a cost effective reliable and steadily improving contractor?

I will be utilizing this thread to answer questions you have. Feel free to PM as well. I welcome questions about flying the line, commuter questions, contract and bidding or anything else that you are interested in.

About me:
I was hired as a Direct Entry Captain and fly the line every month.

I am based in Chicago, I was previously based in STL.

I commute, here and I commuted at my last airline.

I came here to build my PIC Part 121 flight experience and I plan to move on to the majors as quickly as possible. I assume this is the driving force behind why you want to come to GoJet or any other regional as well.
Ugh no you assumed wrong. Most pilots do not want to get screwed over and over to get PIC, maybe YOU DO. They want to go to a respectable place and a place that values employees.

I don’t know anybody here getting “screwed over for PIC time”. Pretty sure you work at TSA, right? Heard you guys got all vacation for the month of April taken away... sounds like you’re the one getting screwed over.

Well Delta wants 3 regionals and is heading that direction after ExpressJet is done. That leaves 5. Who do you think the other two will be? I’m pretty sure it won’t be Skywest, Republic, or Endeavor. So put your thinking cap on and see if any of these rummers make sense. How’s everything going on within GoJet? Are they still working on increasing pay?

If you were "reliable" DAL would not have moved you out of LGA and cut your BHs.

Two things. Someone up above in the postings gave a good view to what the Regional Industry is doing. MLs are consolidating the feed. MLs follow each other.

Read this article. Specifically, the fifth paragraph.

Says the guy on day 6 hasn’t seen his family in 12 days.

You’re right I thinl most carriers will try to consolidate all of their regional flying. That being said, I still don’t think g7 will be affected by this for a couple of years. And by then I think there will be consolidation within the whole holdings company. And possibly with another regional all together ( republic possibly)

You skipped some important questions. I guess its hard to defend a guy holding a smoking gun over a pile of dead bodies.

I know that Gojet would like to change because their reputation is so bad that they cannot recruit any pilots now. We all have friends who went there and were screwed over. But when it comes to changing it seems Gojet always takes the short term savings and screws over the employee.

What has Gojet done to show that they have actually changed their ways?
