tsa pi.
Haven't had one of these for a while, looks like nothing has changed. The usual suspects out there trying to spread lies. I'm currently in GJ training and let me tell you that it's a top notch operation. We even talk to TSA training CAs and they all agree that the whole GJ/TSA is BS, they all know that it was handled badly and have nothing against GJ. They all agree that the package as far as pay was not bad for growth of the company. As far as anymosty by "other" pilots, it doesn't exist. Guys that I've talked to have a hard time getting people to know what GJ is let alone being kicked out of jumpseats. Lately the GJ issue has been brought up because it's the first time since 05 where large numbers of TSA guys are going over. Hey TSA made their bed, it's not anyones fault. I really feel sorry for them though because it seems like GJ has come out on top not only with the basics like pay and contract but they're saying in 1 or 2 years GJ will probably be as big as TSA. As far as a merger, everyone including TSA doubts there will be one because of the UNION issue. Republic, Shuttle, and Freedom didn't have the issue of Unions.

Island style I have no idea what new vs old has anything to do with it. If you take a current snapshot of pay and contract it's very average if not better than the other regionals. Also GJ has been in existence for 3 years, vs the decades other regionals, it's actually impressive that as a startup the pilot group has managed to get something decent. We have block or better, decent comp pay, a commuter clause, another perk is kind of nice is 100% free uniforms. We do still JA but it's rare. Also if you have no knowledge of the GJ contract then I strongly suggest you look into it before bashing it on public forums because if you don't know what the contract has then how could you possibly know that the contract is "less" than others?

I find it interesting that the "unholy trinity" continues to underplay the byproduct of being a gojet pilot. Coming from someone who's only in training and hasn't have the opportunity to experience the realities out on the line, your observation isn't very accurate.

Maybe you should read the previous 40 post, the bottom line is that folks are still going to dislike you everywhere you go because of your affiliation with an alter ego. Jumpseats will still get denied, and no matter how you want to paint it, you're still gambling with your career.

End result: Your regional still sucks but you feel good because your friends at other regionals that suck give you smiles and high fives.

#2) I really don't care about a consensus of regional airline pilots. Why? Well, look at #1.

#3) You say that GJ pilots are screwing TSA pilots. So, if a TSA furloughee goes to GJ, I guess he's screwing himself. My question is, how is that any different than anybody else's typical overnight?

1) Unless you've worked at my airline, you've got no grounds to say "it sucks", that's nothing more than generalizing based on your experience or lack of it. We have a leading industry contract, compensation better than most 70 seat operators (and we only fly 50 seaters), work rules and soft money above most. I truly enjoy working at my company, and nothing really sucks about it, other than the occassional bottom of the barrel feeder trying to under cut us.

2) You should care, your future in this industry might be in our hands. Besides, it's not just the regional airline pilots you should be concerned with, aviation is a very small world.

3) People make choices that often have a negative impact on their lives, isn't that what this thread is all about?

Amazing that people continue to go there. I'm getting furloughed in a couple weeks and live in STL, yet I find myself looking OUTSIDE aviation rather than working for Hulas again. It isn't hard to make first year FO pay doing something else. I'll keep my dignity.

Rationalize it all you want boys. You'll get no sympathy from me. Enjoy sitting in the right seat for 3 years waiting for upgrade too. Guess what? Their pay/bennies are about the worst among 70 seat operations.

Uhh... NO dude, the last thread got locked because it was you guys resorted to name calling. I only replied through PM because I couldn't on the thread. Why don't you let it go?? And if you want to go into vulgar and EXTREMELY unprofessional PM's I've also gotten some PMs from the same people that keep posting against the GJ topic.

Not every airline out there is AA or United there are countless number of shady startups that have failed, while some have succeeded like WN for example and along with them are pilots who were associated with these airlines. The fact is that not everyone can go from 0 to hero, you need to get experience. No one cares how you get to the top. For someone it's Colgan, for another it's EAgle, for another it's Mesa, and another it's GJ. As long as you have never crossed a line and kept your nose clean there is no reason care about how you're getting your flying. And after all this there are still people out there who think GJ is a "scab" airline then you're either dumb or have no idea, or both.
