One of the happier 'unintended consequenses' of PBS was, you don't get stuck flying a whole month with the same Tool. When we had "Line of Time" bidsheets, you were stuck flying with the same guy(s) all month, unless they had vacation or something else that would cause a trip drop. The upside was, if you got a good guy (and 95% were good guys) you'd make plans for the layovers, and have more fun, share the walkarounds, etc. as you became more of a team over a whole month of flying together, vs. just meeting for one trip.
That's when you really knew who the Tools were, their trips were always being covered by reserves! One Tool I knew had 4 different copilots...on a 3 day trip!
And he couldn't figure out why!
When CRM first started being introduced at DL, most of us F/O's said, "95% of the Captains don't need this training, they already know how to do it. The other 5% will NEVER change, you'll just be ****ing them off, so you are wasting a lot of our time, and your money, by having these CRM classes! (in the initial CRM classes, we spent an entire day building paper airplanes...)

MDMax,
There is a way to avoid FOs ya know? One of my favorite laid back exHughes Capts (yes I know, redundant) was flying with Tailstrike T on a 757 trip. At the end of the trip, he handed her his biz card and said, "here's my name, that's my number, I never want to see you again"

We have a "No Fly" list. FO's could initially list up to three Captains they wanted to avoid and a couple of years ago it went to six.
Many years ago we had a Captain that had 25% of the FO's that wouldn't fly with him.
We sent Pro Stands in to talk with him, his response was, "The Company is hiring and training substandard pilots that can't live up to my high standards of operation." We knew he was a lost cause.
He, fortunately, got fired a year later for a completely bizarre event.
The Company also fired a Captain that had 25 letters from FO's stating that they would not let their family fly on his aircraft. They offered him a six month stint in the right seat. He told me, "I will not fly one leg in the right seat." I thought, "Well, that explains why we're all here today." I couldn't even get him to resign, he wanted to be fired so he could file an EEOC claim, which he lost.
It's very difficult to meet the standard of Fair Representation with these guys.....

when your deadheading (ERJ) and a pax takes your emergency exit seat while your saying hi to the cockpit crew your friends with. Upon your return they make a remark about how he paid more for his seat and has long legs and needs it.
