Yes, no matter what you're riding.

(Econ+ trans Atlantic on DAL was $120 extra each way)

We had been CX the night before at 11pm and I had driven home, slept 6 hours, drove back, and was now on my deadhead. I let it go to avoid a huge ordeal, but I think its a tool thing to do. It was not even the seat thing, it was when I came back to grab my paper from the seat back pocket, and pull my boarding pass off the clip holding the tray I asked where he was sitting (as I was curious where I was now sitting), and he got defensive and said well I paid more for my ticket and need the extra leg room (he must have seen me walk up to the cockpit to chat), as I was sitting in the seat for a bit.
Try it after flying a 11 hr trip from Asia on a five plus he dh. I had an exit window and got a middle seat two rows back. I did not say a word, they pay my check. Being a jerk to a pax NEVER will work in your favor.

yes, deadhead to outstation to fly the return leg to base, was a fast turn. Then did another turn, 9 hours of block that day if you include the deadhead. Not that the amount I worked mattered, but still.

agreed, why I was nice about it. I could not imagine however what I would have done if I was on a full fare ticket such as a netjets guy.

Let the gate deal with it. In uniform, we just have to eat it. If the exit row or isle is contractual let the gate deal with it. I do.

Yes, but as a pilot you are not afforded the luxury in front of the customer.
