Do what you want as the CA, but keep in mind how distracting that is for a newer FO who will likely fixate on “why is his hand there? Should I configure? Does he want me to configure?”

The “your leg, you fly” is great in theory, but placing your hand on the flap lever or gear handle to “avoid searching for the handle”
Is pretty obnoxious.
I don't just say "you fly" in the briefing, I try to make it clear during the flight that as long as we are not breaking the plane/rules, you can do what you want. I would never sit with my hand on the gear lever because (A320) that would be uncomfortable, I can easily keep my hand just behind the flap lever, so I don't or have to get my reading glasses out or set the parking brake by mistake. I really think (hope) that if you flew with me you would realize it wasn't a hint, if I really want you to extend the flaps I would just say "I think you need flaps".
Also on the short bus, 99% of the time guys ask for flaps as soon as they can, both on the way up and down, so not really any chance of it being taken as a hint.

I asked a CA why he kept his hand on the flap lever.
He said: “So I can find it if I need to.”
I asked him if he ever had trouble finding the flap lever.
He said: “No, just my hand.”

Performing my walk around the aircraft in ATL, no safety vest on because the aircraft doesn't have one and we don't have any extra available according to mx. Non-reving Delta FO boards while I'm outside, walks up front to tell the CA that I'm not wearing my safety vest.

Did you get grounded, or just a stern talking to?

I received a proper spanking first and was then told I was grounded.

Atlanta seems to be a cultivating ground for wanna be management types.

Sounds like he needs the same talk I have with my three year old about tattletales.

atl atc... “hey sprit since when are you not allowed to accept LAHSO? we didn’t get this information here nor did anyone of my colleagues nationally. Just curious why all of a sudden for the change right now?” Fo “ the skipper said he has worked here 14 years and never been able to do them.” Heard a few other strange things lately from 380 to taxiway Dixie.

If you really can't differentiate between turning the parking brake t-handle 90-degreees or the flap handle "lift to move fore and aft" motion, I think there are bigger issues involved than poor CRM. Maybe if you actually need glasses to differentiate between various actuators, you should be wearing them.
