The TOTD goes to the pilot who posted this as his solution to punish any pilot who applied for a job while his airline was in negotiations.
I’ll tell you a simple but effective solution that may promote some thought for many of those guys.
1. Make a list of those said pilots and while still being professional non-threatening, mentor and explain to them that they will have to go above and beyond in their time at F9 to make up for their error in judgement. Most of all ensure that they understand and process the poor decision they made without using the “Scab” term. That term is reserved for a few elite and fungal members of society and should not be thrown around loosely.
2. Get another list of the guys that can prove their Job offer during this time and declined. Help anyone on that list get rehired and when they are at F9 they should not pay for their beers on any trips for their probationary year.

It's short sighted, however tensions are high so it's a little understandable. In this age of activism it's easy to jump on the wagon without even thinking about why you're on it.

The Captain and I emphasize CAPTAIN because he let us know about 20 times on the PA of AA1535 today from San Jose to Ohare who went into the most ridiculous details of the flight plan and route. Thank God I was able to get my earphones in to drown him out, but I’ve never heard anyone talk so much about points on the ground between Lake Taho and Sioux City. Shut up man.
You WILL respect my authoritay!

Yep. 90% of pilots are indeed tools. ATC asks a question. Don't respond with another question. Don't say "checking in" or "with you" and don't hover your hand on the flap lever. If you disagree, you are probably the guy people don't like flying with.

He has no idea what those translate to in IAS or Mach in your cockpit, and therefore doesn't know yet "what he wants." Maybe someday it will be permissible for a controller to assign groundspeeds. Until then, he needs an answer to the explicit question he asked. Several toolish responses in this thread.
If he needs to assign a speed, he will. Quite wasting time on the radio. If you disagree you are directly the reason this thread exists and won't ever understand.

Note to aspiring long haul pilots: If you're so bored during cruise you start acting like a teenager, chose another profession.
