Exactly. The entire program was gestated in the fevered post 9-11 minds of a bunch of airline gun nuts who thought it would be the highway to John Wayne heaven.

Because of the number of gun related incidents associated with FFDOs. Shooting a hole in an Airbus is just the tip of the iceberg, partner.

That discharge was caused by poor government mandated policies and procedures, and a poorly designed government issued holster. Numerous individuals pointed out the weakness in the system, the Swiss cheese holes, that would eventually lead to exactly what happened. As soon as it did, changes were implemented, changes that should have been procedure from the get go, and there hasn't been an issue since then.

Don't blame the pilot, blame the governmental idiot who came up with a dumb way of doing something that everyone knew would be an issue.

Why would NERD waste time telling Capt. Whodanky what he thought of his cheesy PA?

Like he would care or change? You don’t waste your breath on hoots like that. You just smirk and give thanks you have a bit more class and a smidgen more of common sense.

Tool(s) of the day on this thread.

A "FLAP" and another guy referring to a "clip" who pontificate on weapons carriage as another layer of defense for the cockpit crews.

What's the point of smuggling something in if you're at the controls of the aircraft WITH A PISTOL BY YOUR SIDE?!
