Well, first off "Skipper", we're not in the Navy.
Second, if the captain had tried to "bore me a new one" he would have been disappointed with my lack of caring about his hurt feelings.
Finally, if the DO or CP Were worth their salt, they would have told the captain to pound sand and call Pro Stans, which should have been the first thing the captain should have done if he had a problem.
(The fact that your first reaction seems to be to "rat him out to the CP" speaks volumes...)

Considering the "rank" structure in airline operations is a direct descendant from the nautical world, your comment indicates either a gross disregard or ignorance of our collective heritage.

"Skipper" is an entirely appropriate moniker for an airline Captain.

It's condescending as well.

The subject of my post was not you "ratting" your Captain out... it would have been your Captain marching up to the Crystal Palace to complain about you for apologizing, unsolicited, for his/her behavior.

The ATC tape, if you I downloaded it, may come in handy for your defense if your Captain desires(ed) to initiate disciplinary actions against you.

Disciplinary action for what? I'd love to be a fly on the wall during that meeting between Captain Napoleon and the CP.

CA: FO Bruhaha is insubordinate and needs to be disciplined.
CP: Oh? What did FO Bruhaha do to undermine your authority as captain?
CA: He apologized over the radio without my permission!
CP: What happened that he had to apologize for?
CA: Well this Delta meanie called us a regional jet so I started a pee contest.
CP: Mmhmm...I see. And can you tell me again the problem with FO Bruhaha?

You must fly with some weak FO's. I apologized to a jump seater before for the captain's rudeness.

Another instance the captain goes, we are going to talk to the cheap pilot, I said, what are you going to tell him? He was violating the manual, something simple, non life threatening, and I wouldn't let him.

The Acey guy on ATL tower who got in a hissy fit because they made him take the victor loop instead of letting him cross the inner runway. They had to taxi "all the way" to ramp 9, and that they always let him cross the inner all the time. Tower guy told him to take a phone number if he had a problem with it. Meanwhile I just wanted my landing clearance.

You must opine what weak F/O's or Capt's are. I've found weaknesses are derived from pour training and or instructing, and of course bad habits which go unchecked, or not be debriefed after checking events if observed. I'm happy if the spirit of the SOPs, which include proper R/T procedures (without hissy fits) are followed.

Oh no, now you've done it. Insensitive, sexist, politically offensive, and in direct violation of the Moderator's edict. This confluence of floating jetsam will surely be met with a stern and stout warning.
