Thank you captain obvious.....that's not the issue here. It's this dude ranting at an event that didn't occur, Insulting someone for saying they respect the sacrifice and complexity of military flying, and then topping it off with having the balls to say that airliner flying is as dangerous/complex/intense as military flying. It's just not true, and anyone who says that just sounds plain foolish/ jealous/ naive. Of course there are specific events that will raise your heart level and test your skills in any airplane, but we all know what I'm talking about as a whole. I respect both sides of the coin, civilian and military. One does not make a person better than another, but give me a break.

To answer you:
No, no, and no
I have 2 questions for you:
1. Why do you keep calling people "sport"?
2. Do you really think that you have"done a wee bit more exciting flying on 6 continents" when compared to combat missions or say a night red flag as mission commander in a viper? Or night low level in a Herc?
Are drunk or crazy when you rant?

"Captain Obvious"? What's that all about? Don't you feel that condescending to say the least?
Chill out and enjoy the day. This is an informal board, nothing to get your knickers in a twist over.

Exciting is all relative to the time and environment. But there you go with your bragging about your military flying. At the end of the day deadseal, one should be comfortable enough in their own skin where they don't have to keep reliving the past with those who really don't care. Go ahead and re-up if you miss that type of flying.

Fighter class A rate is approx 5.0
USAF overall was 1.12 in. 2015
US scheduled service for larger than 10 seats was 0.16
Yeah, fighters are about 5+ times more dangerous than the overall USAF rates and about 30x the civilian risk.
Deadseal is right, fighters are way more dangerous than airline flying. Over a 20 yr career you've got about a 10-15% chance destroying an airplane and a slightly lower odds of killing yourself.
That's not counting the roughly every 100 hr 'oh sh*t!' moment that doesn't make the official record.

How about who gives a rats [fungal toenail]. Airline flying is extremely boring, who cares, lets keep it that way.

If you were fortunate enough to fly fighters, you know what it was like. Others who haven't can only wonder, but you know...
That said, in my life I have seen that typically the amount of boasting one does about their fighter career is inversely proportional to the amount of chatter they do later about it. The Mig/Mirage killers I know...one a board regular...typically are quite humble and quiet. The guy who barely made 2 ship or maybe 4 ship lead before going back to ATC won't shut up.
Be proud of what you did, but remember the aggressor motto: Be humble.

Groupie!!!!!! use that tissue to wipe that brown spot off the old shnazola. Done a wee bit more exciting flying in 6 Continents. How many remember good old Kai Tak with those 40kts x-wind landings with pi$$ing down rain. Now that was fun. But I don't need to relate my 40+ years experience to the folks in the back or anyone else for that matter who really don't give a crap. That's what the bar is for after the day of terrifying feats of commercial aviation after shooting a coupled CATIII Autoland Approach. That is of course if anyone cares to listen to the "There I was" stories.
Everyone knows that no one gives a damn
He [apple pie] on some dude for saying he has respect for military folk, [carrot ginger soup] on "double breasted admirals" for talking about how awesome they are, and then told us that he has done "a wee bit more exciting flying on 6 continents" then military folk in the same breath.
The jump to disrespect for civilian flying (which I am exclusively a part of now) is your problem, I fail to connect those dots. But then again I am pretty stupid.
Let us not forget that captain crazy pants went on a rant for an event THAT DIDNT [fried okra]ING HAPPEN AND WAS A PRANK ON GUARD!
sweet 8lb baby jesus
at 16 months at big D now I have never heard a captain talk about his past credentials during the welcome PA fwiw.
that is all from me on this
