I know this is the correct way to say it, but I hate when controllers say "tree".

It's a must outside the US, especially in Asia. You'd be amazed how much "two" and "three" can sound alike when delivered by a fast talking Chinese or Japanese controller. I always appreciate the ones who use "tree" so I can save a confirmation call.

Since I'm here, I'll join the fray. I'm an admitted radio Nazi, but some guys just need to get back to basics. If a guy wants to use trucker CB comm with a USA center, I can deal with it. Outside of the US, some of our legacy, cargo and ACMI bros are simply an embarrassment on the radios. Other than making US pilots sound like amateurs, they're setting themselves up for violations and safety issues.

Fly out of the country much and you'll appreciate it when people say it the correct way!

"Roger That"

There was a guy named Phil at my old company who said Roger so much, all the time, not just on the radio, we all started calling him Roger, but he loved it.

So we had to start calling him "Roger That, Over and Out!"

Can't stand receiving a new frequency, taking 10 seconds to carefully twist it it, THEN reading back the frequency after the controller is querying if you heard him or not. #studentpilotproblems

I usually try to make sure I know all the frequencies I will be on and have it queued up for the handoff. It's pretty simple.
