This has been addressed in the seniority section while working towards a JCBA but currently old practice remains.

Glad you cleared that up Ken or your phone would be blowing up with me ready to grieve the $hite out of that policy. Class date vs DOH has screwed me out of vacation weeks

Vacation, 401K match, 401K vesting, and the fact that every year we wait an extra 2-3 months for the next step on the pay scale. You won't find a single 9E pilot that isn't ticked off by the DOH vs. Seniority Date system.

willworktofly 10-01-2010 06:19 PM

You won't know until you show up. Worst case you would commute for a few months.

Reality hurts. Rule 1 of the airlines: Don't believe what you are told until you are in the seat doing it.

You should know this mooney... ;-)

mosquito 10-05-2010 08:38 AM

lol..i just sent you a msg regarding this..i was hopeing i wasnt the only one....my two weeks notice ends friday...2 week vacation for me! =))

ohboyeightyone 10-05-2010 09:40 AM

i hope they dont cancel our classes =/

SrfNFly227 10-05-2010 11:40 AM

To those of you who are expecting classes, I wouldn't worry at all about them being canceled. We are still very short staffed right now. We canceled 32 flights on Friday for no crews, at least 8 yesterday for no crews, and at least 8 today for, you probably guessed it by now, no crews. We need more pilots and your classes will be happening.

I would assume that your classes are being postponed because the training department is backed up. Pinnacle and Colgan train in the same building, and I am sure that after 2 years of no hiring, it is just taking some time to get things back up to speed down in Memphis.

HIREME 10-06-2010 08:10 AM

If we don't upgrade at a serious rate soon, then when the hours kick up late December and into Jan/Feb of 2011 (as they will be at our summer rates of flying per the memo), we will see more and more cancells.

tennisguru 10-06-2010 03:53 PM

The latest vacancy just went final, and they seriously upped the number of captain slots. Looks like over 20 upgrades spread among all the bases. Also, newhires sent to JFK, DTW, and MEM. No MSP or ATL slots for them.

Yeah I think I counted 26 upgrades. Also looks like new hires can go anywhere but MSP and ATL. Lots of openings in MEM, DTW, and JFK. Its nice to see a good vacancy like that again. Its been a long time. And from all the empty slots it looks like we still need over 50 people on the line.

FSUpilot 10-14-2010 01:31 PM

Anyone recently get a call for an interview or have things just slowed down or stopped for awhile?

Cautious 10-15-2010 08:15 AM

Slowdown??

I heard the woman that does background checks was out all week.

detpilot 10-20-2010 07:02 PM

Any updates on this? And what are the chances of DTW for a new hire?

Airsupport 10-20-2010 07:14 PM

It will be nonstop hiring for the foreseeable future. The only reason they have slowed down is because they are trying to do 3 different class types at once in our building. We have Pinnacle upgrades, Pinnacle New Hires, and Colgan New Hires. Quite simply put they are out of room. As a new hire it looks like you could hold any base you want except for the 900 base in atlanta.

detpilot 10-20-2010 07:22 PM

Thanks, appreciate the info!

booter24 10-22-2010 09:18 AM

an update for you guys. the first ots class was just sent home for 2-3 weeks (could change) they are very backed up in the sims so classes are finishing their ground and waiting to start their CPT and SIM sessions.

I think the last 3 classes have been sent home at one time or another. Good news is they are hiring a lot, downside is that they don't have the manpower to run the training center since they can't afford to pull any guys offline to instruct in the sims.

everyone in my class got their choice of base except for MSP and ATL

Pretty much what he said, I finished ground school yesterday and was sent home today for apprx 2 to 3 weeks.:( , like they said above, they are so tight in that building and lack of instructors that it is causing a huge bottle neck in the sim portion of training, so everyone is getting delayed a bit.

I will say I was done with that hotel though, nice to take a break for a bit and get away from MEM. Airport area is BOOTY getto!!! :D

Silver02ex 10-22-2010 04:48 PM

I was at the CEC the other day and that place is a mess. They have all kinds of trainning going on. New hire, upgrades, and FA new hire, both for Pinnacle and Colgan. People who are suppose to start upgrade with Pinnacle is delay with their class date.

Where I'm from, that sounds like a good thing! :D

PinnacleFO 10-22-2010 05:09 PM

This should give you guys a good idea of what you are steppng into. This place can not plan ahead. All these things should be accounted for when they decide to hire and upgrade. Enjoy your time off though because when you get on the line you won't see many days off for awhile.

ftrflyboy 10-22-2010 09:04 PM

Are the guys sitting at home being paid?

Yes just told last night that we all were.

da_flyn_hawyn 10-26-2010 12:04 PM

I got a stupid question so be nice when responding, I read somewhere that if you have more than one failed checkride you won't get the job at pinnacle. Is that true?

My buddy that's waiting to go to sim said that the only guys getting paid are the Mesaba furloughed guys that took the job. New hires are NOT being paid while they wait for sim, this accurate?

Sushiboy 10-27-2010 07:20 AM

Are they still condincting interviews every week?

PinnacleFO 10-27-2010 08:55 AM

anyone hear anything on when the next vacancy is supposed to come out? They said they will continue hiring and upgrading into next year.

Yes.

On a lighter note. I finally got called in for CPTs after being off with pay for more than a month. I need to get out of vacation mode and back into ground school mode.

incorrect sir... Still getting paid, And I was in the first off the street new hire group.

And they are doing interviews once a week for the rest of the year. however I was told that they are going into a pool for now, but hopefully there not sitting very long.. Its hard to believe on certain days how many flights they are cancelling due to no crew available to fly them!! ;)

Sushiboy 10-27-2010 03:24 PM

Is it for all the new hires since October? I was offered a job earlier this month and was told to expect a class in late November or early December due to the training schedule. I hope I don't have to go into a pool....... Any update?

By pool he means there is no room to train you right now. Pool is probably the wrong term. I would say they are hiring into a line. A long never ending line that will drag you to probably January or February.

mchadpayne 10-28-2010 09:36 AM

I got a call from them yesterday. They said they will be interviewing the first three weeks of november. He said that he was sending my app thru and expect a call to set up an interview!
