When did you submit your stuff on airlineapps? You meet the mins? I've also heard two different stories regarding needing and not needing your ATP written just to get an interview...any truth?

They are wanting you to have the ATP written. They were interviewing some that didn't have it tho. You just take a 50 question test the day of the interview! I applied in July or august and got an email about the end of august that said if you don't hear something in a month thanks for applying! I have 2500tt and 600 multi. I have a frien that got on with them about a month ago and they told him they don't want guys with a lot of time just meet the mims.

Kind of after 9-11. I dont think anyone was actually furloughed but they sent all the people in the training dept home and then brought them back to finish class a month later.

jeff122670 11-01-2010 05:04 PM

got called today for a potential interview. After being hired, what is the process with Pinnacle? Meaning, is there Indoc, training, IOE, etc, etc or is Indoc and training all rolled into one? I was under the impression that these two were separate, but I might be mistaken.

thanks for the help!

week 1 Indoc / written test
week 2 General Subjects / written test
week 3-4 Systems /written test
week 5-6 GFS / phase check / oral exam
week 7-8 Sims / PC
IOE

It doesn't happen in 8 weeks though. More like 16 weeks.

When I got hired at Mesa, I had 3+ months between ground and sim training. I also had a badge and flight benefits... I was G O N E.

Anyone know the time between training events? As in, once we're done with the written, how long till we get to the GFS? (What's GFS stand for? I'm assuming it's a procedure trainer?).

How long till the sim slots are announced after the procedures trainer?

Since they're doing background checks prior to setting foot on property, I am going to assume we get our badges sometime in ground school?

When are we in the system to ride in the back (not flight deck approved, just 'jumpseat' in the back)?

...I'm patiently awaiting a class date.

GFS (CPT/SSI) = Graphic Flight Sim (Cockpit Procedures Training/Systems integration)

I've been off for 2-3 weeks now waiting to start GFS. I have a "tentative" online schedule that shows me starting next week and completing Sims around 12/2 (but that's been pushed out a few times now so...)

I believe that Pinnacle new hires still do not get travel benefits until you complete your checkride. If there's a gap in training I believe they pos space you home and bring you back.

C152PIC 11-02-2010 04:56 AM

Oh - and I would assume that in starting the next classes they've got things better planned to avoid the gaps in training that they've been experiencing lately due to lack of instructors.

Quick question, this may have been asked already, but I am to lazy to dig through this thread. I was called by pinnacle and told that I will need to re take my ATP written before I can interview. I am a bit confused because I am a current Comair Fo, so my written is good.

I'm thinking that HR doesn't know Part 61/121 regs...I would let them know about your status at Comair...be ready jump through a few hoops though. Sorry to hear about that

SpeedTaped 11-02-2010 12:18 PM

Actually your written is only good if your current employer is doing your upgrade training. If you are going to upgrade to Capt at Comair it will still be good if not..well looks like a retake.

14 CFR 61.39

(a) Except as provided in paragraphs (b) and (c) of this section, to be eligible for a practical test for a certificate or rating issued under this part, an applicant must:
(1) Pass the required knowledge test within the 24-calendar-month period preceding the month the applicant completes the practical test, if a knowledge test is required;

(b) Notwithstanding the provisions of paragraphs (a)(1) and (2) of this section, an applicant for an airline transport pilot certificate or an additional rating to an airline transport certificate may take the practical test for that certificate or rating with an expired knowledge test report, provided that the applicant:
(1) Is employed as a flight crewmember by a certificate holder under part 121, 125, or 135 of this chapter at the time of the practical test and has satisfactorily accomplished that operator's approved--
(i) Pilot in command aircraft qualification training program that is appropriate to the certificate and rating sought; and
(ii) Qualification training requirements appropriate to the certificate and rating sought; or

I stand corrected. The knowledge test DOES expire. However, one may take the practical test with an expired knowledge test provided they comply with 61.39 (b)(1) or (b)(2).

Does anybody have info on the class starting Monday the 8th? I was told a packet of info would be sent out, but have not seen anything yet. Has it been delayed?

atpcliff 11-02-2010 09:45 PM

Hi!

It doesn't matter what the FAA says. Most companies require the written within ____ of the class date....I think ususally 12 months. It is just like loggin PIC. What the FAA allows and what the airlines except are two different things. Many airlines require a number of requirements, sometimes odd ones. If you want a job, do what they say/require.

C152PIC 11-03-2010 04:54 AM

While I agree with what's been said about the ATP written, I just want to 2nd the fact that their HR department (I believe all) are completely brand new and have no experience in aviation. Before re-taking a written for an interview I'd try to get in touch with someone in the flight dept to verify...

Windsor 11-03-2010 05:39 AM

Just spend a few hours memorizing answers, pay the $50 and retake the test if you want the job. Show 9E you want the job by doing that. Pretty simple.

lol I don't think anyone should invest that much money to show 9E they want a job there... thanks for the laugh though.

Cruz5350 11-03-2010 07:25 AM

It's 150 for writtens now.

Bengal6 11-03-2010 08:19 AM

Is anybody that is getting a call actually getting an interview date? I went through the phone screen weeks ago and was told to get a current ATPwritten. I did the next day and finished the phone screen, but i haven't heard a word since.

haha... You'd have to pay me to even think of applying for a job there. What a joke!

flylikesly 11-04-2010 01:18 PM

I understand what you are saying, and I actually have no interest in going to 9e, simply can't afford Fo pay rates, just thought it would make for some good interview practice.... But I will not pay for something that I already have. If and when pinnacle gets a real contract I will reconsider. Good luck to you guys, hope you get what we all deserve.

AxialFlow 11-04-2010 03:15 PM

I heard they're being ultra-selective in the interview process. Not taking anybody but the cream of the crop:p

If and when they get a contract they will have all kinds of people with way more to offer than you banging at the door. My advice is to get in when and where you can. Get grandfathered in before 1500hrs hits if you don't have it; get some 121 time and if something better opens up then jump ship. Right now Air Wis probably has the best contract but if PNCL, Mesaba, Cologan get most of what they want in the TA it is going to be a pretty good place to work as far as regionals go.

higherclimb 11-04-2010 05:57 PM

I agree. Get in and get your time and if something better comes along then take the next step up. Does anyone know when the 1500 hours is mandatory?

If it stays the way it is oct 1, 2011 is when it becomes law. Then there is a 3 year period to get everyone caught up.

RKIKZZA 11-10-2010 01:49 PM

Anyone have the latest on Pinnacle classes?

jaded 11-10-2010 02:54 PM

last class started Monday the 8th. A buddy of mine was hired last week for a January class. I heard they have classes all the way till then.

ShyGuy 11-10-2010 03:07 PM

How big are the inidividual classes?

jaded 11-10-2010 04:44 PM

I don't have accurate numbers but it looks like the classes are running between 10-14

Are all the sims in MEM operational? Wasn't one being recertified after being mothballed?

I was there in December for my PC and never even looked around that room to see if there were 2 or 3 sims. I am pretty sure there are still only 2 down there. Either way, this company needs to figure out how to get a lot more pilots on to the line. February block hours are as high as January and we can't just can't staff this place. On Saturday, we had about 20 flights cancel before 10 am for "no FO."

Is this a staffing issue because increased block hrs with no increase in pilots? Attrition? Both? No capts to fly FO? Thats a problem.
