1 failed a drug test on IOE
2 were old guy who were given 6+ additional sim sessions and they admitted they couldn’t make required callouts / hand fly approaches.
1 was a young pilot who was given lots of additional training and had panic attacks in the sim, he failed his MV twice.
they were all in Q400 training too

Took just over 1 year to bid out of ANC. They still assign more FOs to short-call in ANC each day than there are daily departures out of there. They give a few long-call lines.
PBS for April estimated 25 regular lines & 31 short-call reserve lines for FO SEA. My seniority is somewhere in the 90% range after a year.
Most-junior FO lineholder in SEA has a hire date of Oct 2021.
They can't really scale up the flying any time soon either. We are in the slow season and our fleet is close to maxed out. Mainline is picking up a lot of slack and a bunch of PNW routes are now SkyWest. So summer won't really increase the amount of flying except for aircraft deliveries that are trickling in.
Additionally, q400 transitions won't be complete until mid summer (done with OE, eligible to bid PBS), so the number of pilots in each seat/base will keep increasing until then.

I just bid out of ANC and I’m still on OE. Slated to be finished this weekend. I can say that currently for the month of April, there are 38 FOs at ANC and 10 captains. 10 FOs have lines and the rest are on reserve. Our new bids just came out and a couple of us are now going to Medford. As fun as ANC in the summer would be, I would be bidding back to Seattle before I actually got off reserve at ANC and flew. May not fly a ton at Medford either but the commute will be way easier.

Movement is just slow here. They’ve been sending all new hires to ANC right out of training. Most of us don’t want ANC but with there being significantly more FOs than captains at bases, it had been taking about 7-9 months to bid out. I’m just happy they want pilots at MFR now.

For someone in the PDP that lives near ANC this could potentially mean getting a base near home straight out of training if they live in Alaska?
