You know that Crew Scheduling is desperate when they start cold-calling pilots. We have approximately 200 open trips for captains next month. I have no idea how Crew Scheduling plans to cover this flying. Seattle alone has around 100 open trips for captains. This is the equivalent of 3 additional days of flying for every Seattle-based captain. It's going to get ugly (uglier).
Again, I appreciate the info and possible clarification.

Thanks!

No problem. You're correct, a lot of folks want to take the facts and bend them to fit personal agendas and opinions. But the cancellations are definitely on the rise and (opinion) are going to grow for the foreseeable future.

If crew scheduling could have their way, every pilot would be flying 6 days on, 2 days off indefinitely.

Right now it doesn't matter if you're a lineholder or on reserve, the only way you are going home after finishing a trip is if you call in fatigued.

Tool, go where the facts are before you put your foot in it.

I don't envy crew scheduling's job. When they drafted me last month, I was literally going through the gate to board my deadhead home. The agent said my ticket was no longer valid, I had ceased to exist on that flight. Better call CS.
They sent me on an overnight that got me home late am the next day. (Day one of three off.) As I was talking to the scheduler, she thanked me.
I asked, "For what?"
She said, "For not yelling at me."
Ouch.

Flightaware may not factor in flights cxled that were covered by other airlines. It looks like Alaska and Skywest have been covering the pnw to bay area flights that qx has been canceling. Check out skw 9320, 9326, 9321 and 9323.

I am sorry if I had offended you. That was not my intention.

Given how much we were told that PBS will solve all of our problems forever, this current meltdown is pretty firmly into "Yep, that's hilarious" territory.
