The headphones represent such an easy problem set with horrible decisions and execution. It’s not about the headphones (well the article is, but not the point here).
Fwiw, when I commuted home on an AA 321 transcon in first (instead of paying $75 to ride in our mint), each seat had Bose QC25s with a special adapter for the plane (probably to reduce theft). They also give those out in biz class, which is our competition. I don’t know that people will book a biz class ticket on one airline or another based on headphones, but getting negative press on our flagship product doesn’t help, when for a de minimis investment we could avoid that altogether.

Color me surprised.
Mint pretty much changed the trans con game and it came from an airline that never even had a product of this type. But sure if you are going to book a seat based on the headset go for it.
I just think you guys are reaching for a problem that really isn’t there. Out of all of the problems someone picked the wrong headset based on this review talk about 1st world issues and the issue of noise pollution in an airplane.
So to sum up. Mint was a cutting edge product from an airline that never had a first/business product. It was introduced over the massive objections of Wall St. It turned our once barely profitable trans cons into one of thee most profitable routes. It has expanded far beyond the scope of its orgional intent and it might even go to Europe. It has great reviews (save this one) and you guys ignore all of that and say yeah well the headset is wrong. Wow. Yeah bluedriver it’s Valid if all you can do is ignore the good in a product and find the bad. I would say their decisions about mint have actually been pretty good. Other things not so much but Mint yes.
But maybe when the big exciting announcement is made about Europe on October 2nd gee I can’t wait, they will also announce new headphones.

I’ve used the mint head phones and compared to my Qc35s or 25s they suck. I carry mine for DH’s and commuting. However, they’re “free” (read included). That said. Headphones aren’t gonna be the decision maker for someone buying a mint seat.
Imo this is a sad article poorly written and in the end, even bad press is good press.

Joe it seems like you’re taking it personally with this post.

Not personal at all. I have never flown Mint heck I have never seen the inside of one of our 321s. But I do know if I ever have to pay the 75bucks I better bring better headphones.
I do think reviews like that are interesting. There are some YouTube reviews on first class meals they are kind of entertaining to watch. I understand the high standards and people are paying good money but sometimes they get really carried away. My favorite so far was I think Ethiad where they sent two cars 1 for him and one for his luggage.(I think he had 1 bag) I would love to have those types of problems.

I'm confused, are you mistakenly under the impression that we said Mint was a failure or that we said it's a bad idea that should be shuddered?
Or did we say that they F'd up a headset selection pretty bad and should probably get that corrected lickidy split?

But just imagine the glory that would await you if you did work there. You can look back at my posts I have never defended the 75 dollar charge and totally disagree with it. I completely think if it’s open we should offer it and I’m glad Delta and others offer us better seats while our airline won’t.
DH Policy
Now above is some fun reading from regionals and mainline and even passengers who are annoyed that pilots get to sit in first class.
Who knew it would be such a big deal for an employee to get a nice seat.
But but but I have upgrade points.....upgrade points.
I’m a star one world global universe green red gold platinum library aaa card member. I need my upgrade.
