Alright, I concede, after talking to a group of JB pilots over beer after not flying the line or being around work for a few weeks, I changed my mind and think this will pass. We are a special pilot group, with very special pilots. “We’ll get em next time, I’ll take the raise now...”. Fml.
We voted in ALPA. We told them we had to be better than the Alaska contract in pay with better scope and better work rules. The NC got that. The MEC fully backed the NC and reaffirmed that the contract is as good or better than what they wanted. We cancelled our second picket. Now we are waiting for a 300+ page document that will determine our lives for the next 7-10+ Years.
The MEC will likely vote yes on that, if the final language is as good as advertised. I know I will.
Not sure what the majority of you want, but it’s pretty damn clear, in this forum, the phrase “my MEC speaks for me” should be banned.
To rehash my previous posts: if you don’t like this AIP, Blame the NC/MEC. They came to an agreement with the company. I blame this company for a lot, but if this fails, it’s squarely because of the MEC.
Hint: it will pass, because reasonable folks like me (and the silent majority) will vote yes if the final language holds up.
To those pilots who won’t be happy, good luck in your future endeavors. Honestly. I hope you find what you are looking for.

Yep. Is what it is. The only group of people I've ever been around in my life that is excited about being behind their peers in most statistical categories that affect their pay and QOL.
It's dumbfounding to me. But this is the same group that wanted to give the direct relationship another chance what, 3 times? Not sure why I hoped this time would be any better.

And we definitely didn't say that we "just need to be 5th out of the big-6 for almost the next decade" either.
This better be some AMAZING language....

When did the MEC voted to present the AIP to the pilot group? My understanding is that this hasn’t happened.

Lol....yeah....stop agreeing with me so much. It's scaring me a little.
Our biggest disagreement was issues with timing of when we'd get our AIP from the company....
I'm kind of wishing it was closer to when you thought it was going to be now if it meant the talking points would have been better and we could have more confidence the language would just reinforce those points, not contradict them....

I believed, and still believe firmly that this company was never going to give us an agreement after so many months/years. They were only going to come to an agreement when this group got unruly and vocal, and all of the things that go with that that make things more uncomfortable for the company like picketing, negative media, operational problems, general loss of pilot good will...
I believed in creating pressure from ALL sides. But behind the scenes I was telling Payne earlier this year that just before summer was likely and specifically this meeting had a good chance of a AIP.

Or "I just want to be 5th out of the big-6"?
