I'm thankful for it. Will greatly increase our chances of business class overseas.

The upside is that you can also use it and get a paid family leave from that state if you qualify.

Most jetblue pilots qualify for the maximum paid FMLA benefit of over $900/week at least as far as new york state goes. I'm not sure about Massachusetts and California. Even after taking out taxes, that's enough to cover a typical mortgage payment and maybe some groceries too each month of leave. It won't make up for a normal paycheck but it's not insignificant especially in the type of situations that qualify for FMLA.
