I think you're talking about "self deadhead" which is just notating your release from the trip at the DH station. "Alternate deadhead" is a different clause which provides online positive space in lieu of your original DH booking.

Either way, you're not expected to have any obligations upon reaching your DH origin station.

Yikes. But those "incredible" work rules in the Spirit contract!

Yup that’s what I was referring to… apparently according to JayBee they at NK call it “alternate DH” and I was telling JayBee that what he described (which like you correctly said we call “self”, but I wasn’t gonna get down in the weeds) we at JB already have and infact you can do it weeks in advance.

Wow, way to overreact. Talking about reserves. Jeez use some common sense.

Reserves need to call to get released from the tail end? Yikes. That's not common sense except maybe in the regionals. At JB a reserve is treated by line-holder work rules from time of trip assignment until their next RAP.

In all fairness us JB guys have been trolled by several of your colleagues professing we have good payrates but horrible QOL and scheduling, when in fact we have some things we can improve on admittedly and some nuggets that are standard for us but seem to be really novel on nifty concepts to NK guys….. I think this exchange just shows we both have a long way to go in identifying and recognizing those key gems we want to incorporate from both our contracts.

In short as a reservist at JB we would be appalled at the suggestion anyone would have to call and “hope” they get released off a tail end DH. “Consent shall not be withheld” (unless they are chewing through a cancellation package or you have a pending modification at the time you make the request).

Ever since the ALPA National president called delta no voters “rocket surgeons” to their 2015 TA, I’ve seen it used quite a bit in these parts. It’s like rocket science, but with a bit more sarcasm.

Second round - drop to 25 by seniority, if grids are green.
Third round - drop to zero, first come, first served.
That's a huge Bingo.

I always say rocket surgeon, have for years. It makes me laugh, don't care if it amuses anyone but me. It's mixing up rocket science and brain surgeon. Some say "it's not rocket science" and some say "it's not brain surgery". I say it's not rocket surgery.
