i’m not arguing for one side or the other, but it doesn’t make sense to me for the company to complete phase 2 when they don’t know how long this will last. What if you complete phase 2, are put in the pool, and no hiring happens for 6 months? They may or may not want to revisit phase 2 to make sure everything is still good. What if it’s 9 months or a year? Seems like a waste of time and resources when they still don’t know if they’re taking loans or furloughing or what the future holds. I’m sure they have no idea when hiring will resume. That being said, we all want more expansion and hiring.

They want it both ways...they want to drop us at a moments notice (i.e. current classes sent home), and then have us instantly drop what we are having to commit to when and if they ever call. What if they call in 12 months? 18 months? 24 months? Is there still a list that long? Who knows...i'm not holding my breath.

Adulting is hard. Welcome to the Big Leagues.

All the big boys let you defer classes for many many many many months.....JB allows you to defer one class. Whatever - this is pointless, we are arguing like it's Feb 2020

Well stop deferring your big boy class and start class!

Some dudes make everything harder than it needs to be.

According to this post, and anecdotally from bro’s there, I don’t think big D is much different. I’d be surprised if there are any companies that would let you keep deferring classes indefinitely or otherwise give you 6-12-18 months flexibility on a CJO/start timeline since you likely indicated your availability date on airlineapps as now/soon. JetBlue lets you defer once...I’m not sure what the max timeframe is, but I know you can defer once for a decent chunk of time, not just for one class. I had to defer (regret it now) and it ended up being 2 months/4 classes. I’ve heard of people deferring longer, but only once. I don’t think that’s unique to jetblue.

Why do you need to defer for many many many months? It sounds like you're trying to have your cake and eat it too. Are you just hoping to be in the pool while you work on some other project on the side, hoping to keep your place in line?

You're right though, it is pointless. Either you want the job when it becomes available, or you don't. If not, make room for someone behind you that does.

No. No one lets you defer time and time again. At some point you gotta get out of mom’s basement and accept reality. You wanted to be an airline pilot. It’s not all sunshine. Despite being told you’re, “special.”

It was also in the COVID-Rundown or whatever they call it.
Will be interesting to see the cascading schedule changes. Assuming it's to clean everything, but they didn't specify why they are shutting it down.... which leads me to believe someone tested positive and they just don't want to say it.

Quite probably true, but that place was a Petri dish waiting to explode before this thing. I was there a couple weeks back and inflight was still congregating at the bar and hugging up on each other despite the early warnings.
