We could have at least given them the option to show up, get a seniority number, do indoc, get on the benefits timeline, but stay on training pay until they are trained, with an unknown timeline for training, or given them the option to move their class date to the next class since this was done inside of 2 weeks...which is unacceptable, unprofessional, and the least they could have done was give them the option.

Conversely, I know of a JB guy going to delta soon. He talked to his CP about rescinding his resignation (the final date was still a week or so out). CP said sorry, prob can’t get your job back. So we can axe mutually agreed upon classes 5 days out but can’t allow our guys to rescind resignations over a week out? Disgusting and hypocritical. Good thing Delta and AA have continued to honor their class dates for those with CJOs. That’s the honorable thing to do, unlike JB and UAL canceling inside of 2 weeks.

For anyone who leaves JetBlue, you should probably give no more than 5 days notice, because that’s effectively what they just did to our 3/18 newhires and the new standard they set for themselves. Completely unprofessional and sad. And hyperboy, I hope to God you pushed back on whoever's decision that was, because it is disgusting, and left lasting damage to our reputation.

Are they or are they not honoring CJOs right now despite parking massive numbers of airplanes and offering no fly lines? Ask yourself why Delta and AA are still allowing those with CJOs/class dates inside 2 weeks to come on property despite not needing them. They are doing it for no other reason than it is the right thing to do knowing they are inside of 2 weeks and they already agreed on a class date. Could they be furloughed there in the future? Maybe. So could a number of our guys. But at least they got their crew badge, DOH, and seniority number.

What do our 3/18 guys get? A phone call from you saying “let us know if you need anything.” Seriously? That’s ok with you? You think that is a good example of our core values (caring and integrity) and good publicity for us? It’s quite the opposite. It shows our true colors to guys who haven’t even stepped foot into JBU yet. Despicable.

Also, ask your base CP how he handled the guy who asked about rescinding his resignation. Despicable and hypocritical.

Personality, values, and true colors show in times of distress. This place can talk about caring and integrity/values and all that blue culture garbage you all ask/talk about in interviews, but this place wipes their a$s with them, especially in times like these.

did you guys know breeze airways has 5 core values too??? Some are the same. But I’m feeling good about it. I’m feeling like when this is all over we will be saved.

This sucks for everyone involved but jesus some of you are acting like the airline/aviation industry actually has a heart. Hire till you fire? Ever hear of that? It's happened before, it's happening now and it'll happen again. I have friends who were hired back in late 07/early 08 at companies that no longer exist. Offered a class only for them to not even make it to class because the company was going under. THAT is a dirt bag move, when you know you aren't capable of holding a class yet still bring people in. This whole virus thing is unprecedented. We went from absolute best time to be a pilot, airlines booming to literally overnight we're talking furloughs and bankruptcy. I'm never one to defend any company, but look at the facts of this one. What can they realistically do? Spend money to train them when we don't even know what tomorrow brings? This isn't easy for everyone, and I hope it all ends and goes back to normal soon, and we can get these guys on property ASAP. I too have a couple friends who just interviewed and it sucks knowing after all this time hoping they get a call, this stuff starts happening.

NO!! I laid it out. Offer for them to start, do Indoc, go home and stay on training pay at $2k/mo until they figure out how this will play out and when to put them through training. No training costs. De minimis salary cost. Outside of 2 weeks: cancel away. Inside: honor the date you already agree upon since those guys gave 2 weeks notice. Or offer them the next class date, but put it on their terms.

And every airline does stuff like this, but jetblue makes it a big deal to profess they are one of a few airlines who has never furloughed, has values and cares about people. I’m a realist and know how things really are, but I just wanted to highlight the fact that not only are we like everyone else, we are actually in the back of the pack when it comes to stuff like this. Pathetic AA of all airlines is doing people right and we aren’t. Hyperboy professes that our culture makes us different. My point is that it doesn’t. There is no culture. There is one value here: $$$.

And now a family has no pay and perhaps more importantly no health insurance because they resigned from somewhere they had seniority.

Postponed...canceled—semantics. They gave notice to their employer based upon a mutually agreed upon start date of new employment which was axed 5 days prior. Scumbag move.
