I do know of the fund and the union did a good job of telling us about it. I made the choice to wait until after training to contribute. Apparently that was the wrong choice. Thank you for the info.
I think you can change your contribution any time in BCSS? Minimum for first year is $5 to qualify I believe.

edit: apparently we don’t qualify until after IOE and this isn’t viewed as a hardship. 🤷♂️

I’ll try to keep this unemotional and factual but being ****ed off doesn’t even begin to cover it. I was grateful for the chance/offer but....
...
The horrible math in public equals out to a couple million per year. I would have hoped our core values were worth more than that. There’s also no word on any longevity benefits so if we stick around we could be on training pay a very long time. We’ve been told we will keep our seniority number.

If you're able to, please stick around. The JB pilot group needs more people who recognize and call out BS and stand up for themselves.

I’m also sorry to hear this RegionalRetread. I know some in training who were sent home on training pay; one was a day before his checkride. I couldn’t disagree more with the company’s choice to do this. Especially when they’re flying Trans-cons with 3 people on them. Literally just burning through cash. When it comes to the bottom line, we’re all just a number. They can preach all that caring, culture BS all they want. At the end of the day, doesn’t mean sh!t.
Look at the bright side. You should have a seniority number and DOH, which means:
1) Training pay will continue regardless of where you live, where you work, or how much you’re paid outside of JetBlue.
2) You and your dependents can non-rev without limitation on JetBlue.
3) You go to Year 2 and Year 3 pay, etc, on your DOH anniversary no matter how long you await training.
4) You should have medical benefits and company 401 contributions per the CBA.
5) You may even have jumpseat privileges.
6) You get to experience, firsthand, all the #caring that JetBlue has to offer, and you’ve only been here a month.

Possibly all true. We’ve been told we have zero CBA protections so there’s no guarantee on what they’ll do as far as pay longevity. Also, if we work at a 121/135 carrier that requires us to resign, we lose everything including call back. The medical benefits are the only great thing. Certainly it could be worse but this really isn’t a hook up. I’m really digging #6 right now. 😉
