Totally agree. I'm 190 in Boston. Life is about as good as it can be for a newbie commuter. There's a 320 newbie in my crashpad who is hating life. He never gets long call; gets crap reserve; he isn't even close to a line either (after about 10-12 months).

What's the reserve time at BOS and JFK on both 190 and airbus side?

I got hired a year ago and was JFK on the 190 till start of October... I was on reserve with no light at the end until I left. Lots of short call and those few long call I got most ended up with a midnight call to be there at 2pm and then nobody for the entire day ended up being used. There are 2 in my old crash pad there 3 months senior to me still on reserve. Now in Boston life is much easier. Long story short, on the 190, you want Boston if you can commute it or live there. Your reserve time will be much shorter

Are the 190 BOS lines you are getting commutable? How long was reserve? I'm guessing you are still in year one?

Trying to figure out the quickest way off reserve with a decent line in either JFK or BOS. This is assuming the option is available when I get to class!

Thanks.

From what I understand, the "quickest way to a line" is very close between 320/JFK and 190/BOS.....but you become a "senior" FO flying much more choice (by choice I mean easy, commutable, or high credit; your choice) on 190boston.
My class has been here 7 months. I don't think anyone 320/JFK or 190boston have gotten awarded a line. Some guys have on both sides have been awarded hybrids or moveup lines.
Here's my 2 cents.....if you are VERY cool with red eyes, bid JFK/320. If you want to fly almost exclusively during the day, but only fly east of Dallas, fly 190. Either way you can bid off in 2 years from DOH

Thanks for the info.
I know it's subjective, but what's the crashpad "qol" in either city? One better than the other?

QOL and crash pad don't fit in the same sentence!

It will depend where you live, and how easy or hard is it to commute to either city. In NY, you will have a company bus take you to and from the crash pad, most of the day, BOS, you will be on your own. I'm not in either base now, but if I really felt like I needed abuse and decided to commute again, I would go to BOS, hands down the youngest and best looking F/A's!

Feb class. Ioe early April. Bos190. Bid RSV for Sep but could've had a line. Oct line was commutable both ends except for 1 trip. Nov line all commutable front end, 1 commutable back end. Already got a couple RONs at home in Fl. Bos 190 is great especially if you don't love the red eye.

Plenty of options in either city. But it may take some hopping around to find a good one. Cleanliness and a short walk are my desires but if you're reserve you may want to trade the a longer walk for more stuff around. East Boston isn't as bad as some people make it out to be. There's good little dive restaurants and you can take the T downtown very easily.

Winter is coming.......prepare to use your luggage as a plow!
