No real reason in particular. Looks like some more senior 190 Captains are moving to the Airbus.

Also many 190 FO's head to the Airbus once the 2 year lock is up. There was a lot of hiring 2 years ago so those guys are taking the transition.

Totally depends on one's preference...Airbus is comfy, fewer legs, higher pay and generally speaking nicer layovers....but has the dreaded red-eyes.

I know plenty of guys though who are just fine on the 190 and prefer the higher relative seniority and no redeye flying. But no, there's nothing sinister driving the movement. Hope that helps.

so if its not too much trouble can anyone post an example of a typical 4 day pairing at JB on the 190 or 320?

Typical JFK 4 day A320 pairing that goes junior is:

1) late evening report to go JFK-LAS
24hr overnight
2)Redeye JFK- BOS
11hr Day sleep
3) early evening departure BOS- LAS
12-14hr overnight
4) early afternoon departure LAS-JFK

Worth 20hrs give or take.

Here's a 190 trip out of Dec's bid.

Day 1- BOS-DCA-BDL-DCA (17:40 in DCA)
Day 2- DCA-FLL-DCA-FLL (13:20 in FLL)
Day 3- FLL-SJU-FLL (11:54 in FLL)
Day 4- FLL-BOS

It appears that BOS has the best 190 trips, it's also the largest 190 base. JFK is 2nd , tends to do a lot of JFK - Upstate NY or PWM/BTV/BOS legs. MCO 190 does more island flying...Get the plane to San Juan and then fly around on the island hops.

Are the 190/320 day trips commutable or do they usually start early finish late type of deal?

Just got my invite to vets in blue off of the standby list! Second session on the 13th. If anybody is going to and from LaGuardia and wants to split some cab fare, let me know.

I think most day trips either start early/end early or start late/end late.

Out of JFK most 320 day trips are down to Florida and back or the higher credit ones to Puerto Rico/Dom Rep/Jamaica/Cuba and back.

I just got the call on the standby list and I'm second session as well. I'm NR myself in at 9:45. I'd take a later flight but want to have options in case the flights fill up. If you are there around that time (+1-2 hours), I'll split fare with you.

Plans might've changed a bit for me. Might be flying up the day before and staying at my parents in CT the night before and night of and driving in. I'm not sure if I'd be there early enough to pick people up at the airport but definitely able to drop off after. 4 people anyways if that helps. Name's Dave (or Dice). PM me if you want.
