I'm heading to the Dec 2 class and am trying to figure out how to handle getting down to JBU. Having never been to T5, I was planning on simulating what I expect will be my future commute.
I live in NJ and was planning on driving to JFK, park my car long term at the Lefferts Blvd lot and take the Airtrain to the terminal. I am not an airline employee, but I guess I will be the next time I get back to my car. I am trying not to have to pay for parking or the train.
Can you experts confirm that my plan will work or tell me how to complete what I'm trying to accomplish. Thanks

You'll have plenty of time to plan the quickest routes after training since you'll have plenty of notice for your IOE trips. The chief pilots office will get you free parking when you are almost done with sims, it takes them about a week to get back to you.

You won't get free JFK parking until you're based in JFK after training. JB flies to MCO from EWR so get someone to drop you off there or take the train. Depending where you live in NJ the commute is not bad.

This
Save yourself the headache and just have someone drop you off at the airport when you head down for training. You will have to get into the CP office and complete your paperwork before you get your JFK parking anyway. Leave your car in Lefferts and it is going to set you back $18/Day. Even if you had your parking set up, you couldn't leave your car in long term for more the 14 days in a row before you have to pay for it anyway (This is a Port Authority rule that can't be waived) .
You'll have plenty of time to simulate your commute when you are actually making it.

Hey guys just got email for phone interview, says I need log book handy but I'm on a 4 day. Any ideas why I would need it in front of me, I assume they want to confirm times. But I can ball park without looking at the books

Also, if you have logbook pro, print out the flight summary page. That will have all the answers to the questions they will ask.
