I applied back in November, is there any idea when they are going to add some classes? Or interviews?

I got 5 types, B744, B742, corporate stuff, about 3000 hrs PIC and 6000 total hours.
Boston/JFK E190 or JFK 320 are the most Junior. However with the last system bid it looks like the smaller bases (LGB, FLL & MCO) are attainable in less the a year. Good Luck!!!

Coming from captain Cool Hand lol!

I honestly knew I wasn't going to get called in a month. QOL hasn't gotten very poor at where I am, that it makes me anxious to leave.

I honestly was not putting my qualifications to boast or brag. If I could of I would of moved on a long time ago. I was just gauging competition, movement, and kind of the standard for length of being called.

I want to thank everyone for the good info and sarcasm. Love Forums and internet jabbing!

Ok....here's som jabbing.

The phrase is "I could HAVE", not "I could OF".

For what it's worth, 25% of my class (summer 2013) has resigned. If that is indicative of other classes jB will need to increase hiring numbers to make up for attrition coming from the bottom of the seniority list.

any thoughts on why so much attrition from the new hires? JB culture or better opportunities elsewhere?

My guess would be the latter.

Lots of retirements and movement coming at the big 3. JB...not so much. Plus, better pay, benefits, retirement, etc...

JB will only offer enough pay and benefits to keep attrition at acceptable levels. That's what they call "peer competitive".

No JetBlue is pretty good for this new hire. But I live in base and will hold a line next month. So its a different equation. If I were a commuter I'd have my stuff out based upon long term benefits like pay, health care, job security etc. if you put all these things on a spreadsheet then the others win hands down. For me its just the driving to work that makes me want to stay. I also enjoy where I am so its not that Blue is bad just that others are better on the quantifiable issues.

i fear Blue will turn into a revolving door if they don't realize the pay and benefits issues need to change. That's just an objective look at the facts. They will have to realize that while they compete for passengers as a low cost carrier, they complete for pilots against all carriers.

On of the worst issues Jetblue has, others can attest to this, is managements ability to change any area of compensation, benefits, scheduling at will.

Since the pilot group is not unionized and has no CBA none of the documents which guide your employment are legally binding. For example, the health care was changed a year ago to $2600 deductible for families with a max out of pocket(in network) to $7000. Your monthly premiums also increased to nearly $500. The level of coverage provided also changed and additional exclusions were incorporated. This change was made unilaterally of pilot input. Next year it will change again without a CBA.

Disability was changed from Post Tax to Pre tax without pilot input reducing your reimbursement.

A dependability policy was implemented the week before thanksgiving which incorporated 2 sections. Call in Sick and Call in Well. The call in sick and associated punishments were instant. The Call in Well section is under "further review" indefinitely.

Vacation was changed to force almost the entire pilot group to bid vacation in trough month(Sept-Oct) until the PVC made the company aware that if the amount of pilots Jetblue wants using vacation in those months took vacation during those months the operation would shut down.

A scheduling manual which was unilaterally changed in 2010 still has not been fully implemented in 2013. The sections benefiting the airline were turned on immediately but the sections benefiting the pilot group have been delayed with various excuses.

The PVC recently published its lawyer reviewed opinion of the latest PEA. It made clear Jetblue pilots remain unprotected and vulnerable to industry consolidation with little or no ability to negotiate integration. It also allows and defines Jetblue's ability to fragment the airline in a time frame half of what our peer pilot groups have. Will the airline do it? Who knows. Airline management is airline management. Their job is to make money and if fragmenting the airline puts money in the share holders pockets then that is what will be done.

Far too many Jetblue pilots want to put their faith in the leadership of this airline. Look where it has gotten them.

These are just a few reasons to answer your question. The issues go farther beyond the above and much deeper. This is also why many of the pilots at Jetblue are leaving and/or recommending others not accept a job.

You have senior check airman leaving. These are jet blues most trusted employees most of which make over 300K. What does that tell you.
