Jet blue application window
The bigger problem is that a union is not solely made up of a negotiating committee. The pilot group needs to understand "unity" which means at times sacrificing for the greater good. Spending negotiating capital to preserve lifestyle for junior or reserve pilots. Be willing to negotiate for scope and job protective provisions at the expense of more tangible benefits.
That means the Flica ninjas that are crediting upwards of 200 hours per month may need to be reined in. One for all and all for one. Its a big cultural shift for a pilot group where everyone looks out for themselves and expects the outcome from negotiations to be an answer to the question, "what's in it for ME?"

Agreed. As a 190 guy I do worry that the Airbus guys having a much larger voting block will see raises at our expense. We will see how much unity there is when money is on the table.

I would say the Airbus guys would gladly sell us down the river to get a raise. One guy said in the call in with Rob that the 190 is overpaid.
I would hope that we all stick together but you work here, you already see the 190 vs 320 deal.

Before all of you got here we choose the PVC via a silo system. We did so to make it fair to all pilots. We also fought, at the 320's expense, to make the 190 10% of the 320 in pay. No one is selling anyone down the river.
DO NOT KNOCK the current PVC. Without the current PVC none of you would know the truth. Those complaining about the PVC were not here for the last PVC and the FAB4 who with the airlines help provided us with a PEA full of holes and lies. Imagine the current PVC telling you the PEA you just signed would protect you until the day you retire. Well that is what the last PVC did. Why, because jetblue said it didn't matter what the document said(just like this time) because thats not what the intent was.
Those of you complaining about this PVC have been provided more truthful and factual information than you could ever imagine. This PVC provided this information while being threatened with progressive guidance and termination. You complain about this PVC because they use to much BOLD font in communications or strong language? Seriously?

From premium and its triggers to insurance to scope we have had a great deal taken from us. It's difficult to imagine what else Jetblue will take away before a union arrives.
There is a cultural shift happening and the vote may indicate that. Provided the union does get voted in the SILO system is the best way to foster that in my opinion. Base reps, P2P, LEC's all of it will require good people who are dedicated to the cause not simply getting out of flying.
As our current committee system is largely hand picked by management there isn't much room for pro-pilot volunteers. With a union the truth comes out. Jetblue can no longer sanitize and message the message.

There will be none unless we have a silo system.

I actually haven't seen the 320 vs. 190 thing yet but I have heard many complaints. I do hope if a union comes onboard we will have a silo system as the previous poster pointed out. And while I agree our PVC seems to be sticking its neck out, which I admire, I wonder if the same individuals will run for, and be elected to, union positions.
As this thread is about hiring I would just agree with another poster who said it could be interesting times at blue for awhile. I am overall very happy to be here, hope to stay until the end of my career, and hope to not worry about job stability for unnecessary reasons like mergers or fragmentations. I guess overall I'd like to see the same stability that most airline pilots should reasonably expect from a relatively new but fairly successful operation. Will it be the DR or a CBA? i don't really know.
