Has deeper issues? Sort of like flying on average 25-35% of our normal schedule for 9 months now? Or the fact that we are still down 65% on TSA throughput? Or that we are losing 7-8 million a day still?

I’m not advocating giving anything back, but I am advocating taking a look at what the union has to show us with an open mind. I don’t believe that pilots truly understand how bad things are right now. The ONLY thing propping this industry up right now is hope.

The numbers are not good. However, customers have shown already that they will begin to return as the virus numbers subside, and by JB's own projections, it doesn't take a full return of customers to get to zero cash burn, which is all JB needs to become sustainable for a good while. Things are indeed bad, but there are multiple vaccines on the way, lots of pent up travel demand, and JB has a business model that doesn't depend on high fare business travel. So this is likely a temporary problem, which doesn't necessitate a long term concession. I do know a group that leadership showered with hundreds of millions of dollars BC (before COVID), maybe they can ask Wall Street for concessions...

With all that said, I believe JB survives this and thrives. I also appreciate generally that the company hasn't used this as a way to try and scare this group into concessions overall. We'll see what this next AIP is about.

They don't even help the company all that much; it's just them not letting a crisis go to waste so they can lock in cost cuts indefinitely. No pilot concessions ever saved a company.

The covid LOA softened the contract language enough for the company to react to current events, especially in regard to the AA codeshare. If that's not enough then the company has deeper issues than the pilot contract and we'd be fools to be stampeded into giving them more than what they need on the basis of doom and gloom forecasts. That story never ends well.

thats the spirit! Tell us more

but the vaccine is right around the corner. In fact it’s probably going to be at CVS and Wally World today! My neighbor has been dying to travel! 100% capacity by next month probably. Maybe over sold flights.

Well if the vaccine rollout mirrors what I see on line “I’m not taking it no way...” then at best we’re looking at BK by the end of 2021.

JB is not going BK anytime soon. There are a lot more airlines way more exposed than us that will be in dire trouble well before we hit BK. And everyone doesn’t need to take the vaccine for the virus to run its course. Between the people that have already had it, and a decent percentage that take the vaccine, that will be enough. It seems grim now, but I truly believe we’re in the ‘darkest before dawn’ stage. Spring will be better, summer will be good. Next year at this time, we’ll be approaching 2019 levels.

I think this is a logical assumption unless something with the vaccine goes terrible (production, delivery etc). The people who are scared will get it and feel better about traveling and the people who don’t want it will continue as they always have haha

Vaccinate the elderly, vulnerable and high risk and the need for lockdowns and phased openings I think will dramatically decrease.

I am on the exact same page as you are. On the other hand, Let’s all take a breather on what the company is proposing until we get to take a look at it.
