JetBlue Latest and Greatest
I’m not advocating giving anything back, but I am advocating taking a look at what the union has to show us with an open mind. I don’t believe that pilots truly understand how bad things are right now. The ONLY thing propping this industry up right now is hope.

Has deeper issues? Sort of like flying on average 25-35% of our normal schedule for 9 months now? Or the fact that we are still down 65% on TSA throughput? Or that we are losing 7-8 million a day still?

With all that said, I believe JB survives this and thrives. I also appreciate generally that the company hasn't used this as a way to try and scare this group into concessions overall. We'll see what this next AIP is about.

No offense to any of the guys at risk of furlough, but our contract already contemplates tough times and was never especially generous. So I'm not interested in giving back anything in the contract to avoid furloughs. History shows that items "temporarily" given back often take much longer than expected or promised to be reinstated, sometimes they never are. They don't even help the company all that much; it's just them not letting a crisis go to waste so they can lock in cost cuts indefinitely. No pilot concessions ever saved a company.
The covid LOA softened the contract language enough for the company to react to current events, especially in regard to the AA codeshare. If that's not enough then the company has deeper issues than the pilot contract and we'd be fools to be stampeded into giving them more than what they need on the basis of doom and gloom forecasts. That story never ends well.

JB is not going BK anytime soon. There are a lot more airlines way more exposed than us that will be in dire trouble well before we hit BK. And everyone doesn’t need to take the vaccine for the virus to run its course. Between the people that have already had it, and a decent percentage that take the vaccine, that will be enough. It seems grim now, but I truly believe we’re in the ‘darkest before dawn’ stage. Spring will be better, summer will be good. Next year at this time, we’ll be approaching 2019 levels.

Vaccinate the elderly, vulnerable and high risk and the need for lockdowns and phased openings I think will dramatically decrease.
