the only way to make extra on reserve is to pick up premium time (x in the box all the way to the right of FLICA), get called for a VDA, or break guarantee on your reserve days (credit over 75 hrs) then FCFS open time pick up goes above guarantee..

Facinating that regionals let you do it, but major players don't. I keep seeing people say the rsv system at blue sucks..what makes it so bad?

I have been able to swap days in the 1st 48 hour window the past two years with maybe one or two denials that were not user error ( like orphan days ). We don’t Have a “hard 2 hour call out”, it is 2:30. If it were a “reasonable” allowance, all the bang-out monkeys would push it to the limit and we’d have a lot more delayed flights than we already do.

Personally I’m quite enjoying our RSV system, especially this past year. The only time CS has put something in JETCRW in over a year it’s been PRL. Haven’t gotten a single call from them.
Ha, check back with us over the next year or two. The last year is not indicative of ANYTHING.

The juice isn’t worth the squeeze. Don’t like it? Don’t bid reserve or if you do, VDA on your days off.

The first 10 names on the VDA list for 320 are always
top 10% in the company. Soon as they call them though you’re in.

IMHO it’s actually B6’s staffing model that sucks. Admittedly I am a w h o r e and I capitalize regularly on that same low staffing model. It’s sometimes impossible to swap days off so punching out for the day often is the only option which of course burns 4:12 of PTO per day.. we only accrue 6 hrs of PTO per month so do the math and it sucks.. Once again more of a staffing issue then a reserve issue. Some have issues with the 2.5 hr callout but it’s an improvement over the old 2 hr rule still tuff for some to make it.. In the summer months I prefer to be on reserve weekends off, I VDA my days off. I often get calls for 1 day of VDA into a reserve block the math works out nicely. Many summer months I can do better then I would with a Junior line and work half as much.. Its a hard pill for some to swallow that JB will always be “understaffed” in some’s opinion.

Whats your relative seniority?
Im 80% in seat/base. I’ve only had the phone ring for a VDA once. I figured I needed a couple more years before that started happening with regularity.

I’m around 88 seat and base. In 2019 I was averaging more than 2 per month and it was my best year ever I haven’t got a VDA since early March of 2020. Weekends off is key. Reserve starting on Monday or Tuesday and VDA on Sundays where almost all the calls

Well yeah….in 2019 they would ask to speak to my wife and kids to accept a VDA if for some reason I couldn’t. It was that bad at times.

Agreed but it was like that in 2015-2019 for me. It’s the only way for a junior pilot here to make big boy money.. We will be right back to 2019ish staffing next month thru August. Make money when you can is my approach..
