So you want the open time all for you? Someone gets it.... just because it's not you doesn't mean others are greedy.
Until there is a formal request/policy/ban from the MEC, I will pick up any open time I want, if I feel or want to work a little extra in a month. However, If there ever is a formal open time ban from the union, to achieve a goal (contract, etc), I will gladly follow the ban.

I don't. I have so few days off (compared to just 6 months ago) thanks to our staffing levels the last thing I want to do is volunteer for more work. Why others subject themselves to it, I don't know. They must have miserable home lives or live way beyond their means and need the money.
And they'll wonder why they will have an issue with pilots calling in sick this summer... (fatigue induced weakened immune system, of course!)

It's not those who pick up open time. Feel free. If you don't fly it a RSV will have to, but that's a different conversation.
It's those who slap down availability via RTF, RSA, and VDA... While you'll get paid for RSA used or not, you are sitting free RSV for the other two. This props up the system, keeps staffing low, and does nothing for seniority advancement.
Bravo to those who stay tuned in and manage to credit 100+ hrs every month. I'm looking for 18+ days at home.
Just don't be bragging about how your bot works... I'll be the first to send you to the cleaners.

So let me get this straight, I am suppose to make 75 hours a month as a first year pay rsv/maybe hybrid line holder? When I could actually credit a 100+ hours and make a $1,000 extra??....
To make a point to management that they need to hire more?
I don't think the people picking up the 5-20 trips in open time every month are the real problem. And I don't think you can expect anyone on first year pay to just sit there and watch their bank account empty ... I'd question anyone on first year pay if they weren't trying to get 100's a month.
Just a month ago the captain I flew with complained about the 40k in taxes they had to pay
"Some people don't even make that in a year....."
Right on.... I'll eat my PBJ now... I know what I got into. And I'm picking up trips... Sorry.

Until there is a formal request/policy/ban from the MEC, I will pick up any open time I want, if I feel or want to work a little extra in a month. However, If there ever is a formal open time ban from the union, to achieve a goal (contract, etc), I will gladly follow the ban.

Staffing is pretty good on the 320. Most RSV CA's I fly with say they're not getting used that much. On the FO side it's been pretty quiet too.
I think the 190 guys are just in shock that they're short staffed. They've always had the lowest line divisors, JR line holders getting 15-16 days off etc.

And that cannot be a formal ban, it would be illegal, and it was discussed at the last union meeting
But do use common sense; keep picking up RSA and the QOL will never improve here

People here are saying not to pick up RSA, especially now that we are in negotiations, and you spin it that way? As we want open time for ourself? Please
