It's good for the qol pilot who wants to drop to minimum and its good for the high earners who want to max their pay and everyone in between. Suggesting that no one should take advantage of what is offered to EVERYONE only serves to make more people unhappy. It's not selfish, just as it won't be selfish for pilots to do whatever is available in the CBA when we get one.
Do you live under a rock? The pure naivety of this is breathtaking.

blueblood I do understand the big picture. The big picture is our current pea is through the end of the year and my union leadership is telling me the negotiations are making good progress, and things are getting done in a timely manner. I can absolutely understand that a time might come when that is not the case but I don't think that's now. For now I think we need to do what our union leadership has been communicating to us, fill out the surveys, operate the airline safely, and report when things don't go right. It is illegal job action for them to suggest a ban on picking up or working more and it isn't much different for you to do it as a member not leadership.

Oh you guys would be so proud of me! The company called today and asked me to save their butt by taking a flight out of my commute city. They were basically going to give me 10 hours of pay for a 1/2 days work. I told them I couldn't though because we need to keep our leverage against them during contract negotiations and that once they give us a good contract, I'd be allowed to help out again. How awesome am I???

We should not pick up either.
As a matter of fact we should start a self awareness campaign.

"Friends don't let friends pick up RSAs"

Ok, ALPA cannot ban them. But we can make sure our fellow pilots understand the importance of getting into negotiation with leverage.
Being proactive rather than reactive.
It's not just to make a point, but it's for a better future.
Don't make the extra dollar today, get a better pay tomorrow.
Look at it as an investment.

If you would go to your union meetings you would know now that we are starting with the hard parts of the TA we are oceans apart with the company.
Regardless. You pick up RSAs etc, the reserve grid will continue to stay red. How about flexibility there?
It's not illegal for me to try informing you, since unfortunately I can't ban you from picking up RSAs.

May be, may be just slept deprived and illiterate. May be both.
May be it's not the point nor your business.
Do you pick up RSAs? If you do, do you understand what are the consequences? That is the point.

Nice job , douche. Maybe if you hold out long enough they'll have home basing. RSA vs emergency flight out of a commute city are very different.

Keep up the great work.

Not awesome at all, because in your idiotic scenario, you actually answered the phone. And that's already wrong right there.
If it was true, you would be in their "helping out" list.
Which it's the same as "interfering with negotiations list".
