Training Department last fall said they are working on getting ETOPS 180 certification. Most North Atlantic routes are good with ETOPS 120.

I can see us getting the A321LR and start going to Western Europe and with our Mint and Core cabin product, I bet we would do very well.

It doesn't look like anything more than 120 would be needed for TATL

Light Shaded areas require ETOPS 120, dark shaded would be 180:

I don't think ETOPS is a secret. They've been talking about it for months in recurrent and upgrade classes. We will be running my mock ETOPS runs on transcons to speed up the process. I think they applied last summer some time.

Anybody else think that it should be us running this route? Our partners already run to SNN and DUB from BOS. Seems like this would be a perfect start to TATL expansion?
Heck, I've done BOS-SJC and honestly could have coasted into Ireland in the same time!

I concur, it's now almost a matter of when and not if IMO. BOS and JFK are prime markets with still more opportunities for TATL.

Why expand when we can just sign more codeshares? I feel like we're getting widebody flying all the time, except someone else is flying it.

Why not share lift? Why not "share" with aer lingus to ORK/SNN/DUB? We are PARTNERS, after all? Compete against WOW to KEF? Why not? Their 321s can do it, so can ours. Its a start.

I like the TATL idea, but we're also missing out on a lot of opportunities on the "fly over states". I want to look at this airline as ever expanding into new reaches of the world, but something tells me that they need to connect the dots domestically before they venture too far into legacy territory. International lift, historically, requires a TON of regional feed. We're just not there yet. Thats the bread and butter of the whipsaw that is DAL/UAL/AAL...

I agree somewhat on the flyover states. That's certainly a market that has much more room to grow but with the 800lb gorillas flexing it's going to take some time and more airplanes. IMO somewhat thin TATL routes are not so far fetched and are more achievable now with the LR on paper. Westjet bought 767s and just started LGW from a not so large town market so it's doable and where the market is headed. The introduction of MINT is the feather in the cap. That tool will provide B6 with flexibility. Where the TON of regional feed comes in, i.e historically, is to fill WBs.

Just my 2 cents.
