Queue, will you be our MEC chair someday?

From the call:
Jamie Baker
At JPMorgan, good morning, everybody. A question on the pilots, I mean, we have a new contract at Alaska, albeit an arbitrated one. We have an agreement in principle with Spirit. It kind of feels like we know where the market is for aviator wages at least for the more growth oriented airlines like JetBlue, obviously. So would I be mistaken then to assume that you're in the final stretch and we should be modeling for new contract this year?
Robin Hayes
Hi, Jamie. Good morning, I’ll take that. I'm not – I won't – we're not going to sort of negotiate in public. We've already gave much indication of where we are, just to say that ports continued under mediation. I think the both sides are working through the process. We're working – we've very good faith, in fact, there were discussions going on this week.
And I'm very – we all are – we are very proud of the JetBlue pilot air community. But the difference between where we are and the other airlines is that this is our first contract. This is something that we are building from scratch and so it's not just a question of sort of amending a contract and looking at – its actually every single page has to be…
Jamie Baker
Okay.
Positive or just corporate speak?

“The JetBlue and ALPA negotiating committees met in Washington, D.C. this week for a full mediation session. During the meeting, we tackled four substantial sections: Compensation, Retirement, Insurance and Scheduling.
While our aim is to keep discussions at the table, we have always said that we will address incorrect information. And that is what we have to do today.
While we were still in mediation yesterday, the MEC inaccurately reported that JetBlue was stalling negotiations and had not come to the table with "serious proposals." In reality, at that time, the MEC and the Negotiating Committee had in their hands our latest Compensation proposal from the day before. It was a serious proposal, which offered rates within a percentage point of Alaska's current rates, that would go into effect on ratification. In addition, JetBlue offered a company contribution to our Pilots' 401k retirement accounts that grows to 16% over the life of the agreement. However, after the MEC sent out its communication, we did not receive a serious counter proposal that in any way indicated urgency in reaching agreement despite what they communicated earlier today.
We will continue to negotiate in good faith at the bargaining table. This is the only place an agreement can be reached. Our next mediation session is February 26-March 2, and we have a language session scheduled for February 13-15. We remain committed to reaching a contract that is fair to Pilots and enables JetBlue to grow and compete in a sustainable manner.
Respectfully,
Xxxxxxxxxx”
———-So you guys (ALPA) proposed Alaska rates? Or was that Managements proposal to ALPA?
Thanks?

“MEC had in their hands our latest proposal.” Seems very clear to me? “In addition, JetBlue offered..” this is clearly written by JetBlue’s management about their offer to ALPA. Why would you think ALPA proposed/wrote that?
Management proposed to JB ALPA Alaska - 1%, with scheduling concessions (concessions from what we don’t know...current, proposed, already agreeed upon, etc.). Regardless, Alaska -1% isn’t the market rate, even for Alaska, since they get a raise in april. AA/DAL/UAL/SWA/HAL also need to be thrown in to establish “market rate.”

This company is delaying a contract intentionally that would compensate me and my family with an additional roughly $3-4,000 per month in pay, benefits and retirement contribution. That's personal.
This company is also delaying a contract intentionally that would increase my time off-duty with my family via a calendar day rig. That's personal.
The terrible QOL of life for our reserves is also quite personal! It has kept me from exercising my seniority to upgrade to captain. That's personal.
You can passively sit on your thumb with a nooky In your mouth all you want, I will not. I know you don't actually believe that 3500 quiet and passive pilots will ever achieve a market rate contract, so I have to wonder what your agenda really is....

management proposed Alaska rates minus 1%. let that sink in. alaska pilots would have turned down their current rates if they had been given the chance to vote on it, but it was an arbitrator decision so they had to eat that.
furthermore , the concept of pattern bargaining is that you build up on each other cba, meaning , our Alpa proposed rates are not only above current Delta or United, but includes what we assume will be their 2020 and beyond future rates since they start negotiations in a year.
to add insult to the company proposal ,they wanted to have zero work rules to offset that pathetic rate offer, and no profit sharing with zero improvement to our current heath care plans that's worse than walmarts'.
don't forget too that those rates were for a320-321 only, the 190 was offered zero .
we can only hope we reach and impass with NMB release soon so we can shut down this experiment and see the worthless JB management team be fired .
