I know years and years ago the Sched Comm (project pilots looking for managements approval/promotion) stated that a min day in the optimizer screwed up the commutability of the pairings. That was back when some of the pairings were commutable. Is it possible that myth is still floating around?

BTW there are ways to contractually allow for flexibility to allow both commutability and a min day. One way would be a "cut out". If a pairing started after a certain time and ended before a certain time (i.e 3 day to SDQ) then it might be subject to a different pay scheme. For example if the min day was 5.5 hours then a 3 day "Super Commute" pairing could have a flat and/or min rate of 13 or 14 hours if it complied with the start/end time provisions.
A contact without a daily min would never pass.

The 160 hour wonder boy on the PSC used to say a daily min would hurt the pilot group. That was simply code for it would cost the company money.

You might want to consider the fact that not a single person is coming to your defense. We use the possessive "my" not as a means of degradation, but as a term of allegiance, loyalty, unity. It says "whatever happens, we are in this together. We are a team." The only accurate thing you have said is "I am wrong." You should have left it at that. Now, did somebody say something about buying me a beer?
Way to be about 5 days late, and trying to restart a finished arguement.

Since you haven't been here long it probably hasn't happened, and hopefully it won't. Imagine YOU'RE (is that correct?) at the bar getting your drink from YOUR favorite captain. He introduces you to a group of people. This is MY Fo and these are MY flight attendants. Let's not take this out of perspective. I guess you would have to be there, and you weren't. With your seniority you have probably not had the pleasure of getting to know the horrible 100 yet, just wait.

Haha... I fly with the horrible hundred 80+% of the time. First off, they aren't that horrible with of course a couple notable exceptions. Second, they don't do many overnights. Third... Dude, just let it go. If you are like me and really fly with the horrible hundred weekly, then it's time to take the upgrade if you are that burnt out about this meager issue.

Why we will never go to Europe. Our codeshare partners can do it for us...

Yea, it would definitely be a big fat NO vote from me. We are not a regional, we shouldn't expect a regional-like contract. Nobody should be trying to compromise on this.
