We're losing 5% PS regardless.
Are you saying taking the 8% is the difference between getting a leading CBA in minimal time and having it drag out with an eventual lower pay and benefits? Really?

What happens during our negotiations will not be influence by this proposed pay increase.

- Not sure about that, but lets remain circumspect---Anything we take now WILL directly affect when and how much we get later. To what degree, no one knows.

Yes vote here, I'm not voting on a TA. It won't change my stance today, I will still be expecting my 25+% raise and better work rules from where I am today. This has nothing to do with adding to the length of our negotiations... optimistically thinking spring of '18. Management knows they have to pay more or this ship will sink.
No pilot at JB in there right mind will vote on anything mediocre. We will get the contract we deserve and take the 8% along the way.
"Lanyard Strong".
Profit sharing is going away anyway.

This doesn't change my feeling on wanting a industry leading A32X rate that also gives us better insurance, profit sharing, etc.... I know of no one that would vote for anything less... Why should I be I turn down 8% while we wait for a contract....

No- Im saying that its a tactic that I have seen by the same company that RAH used to drag theirs out for 7+ years. Its only the beginning- these people do this for a living. They are already preparing for mediation and are probably practicing with NMB mock trials

The only thing you do by voting no is potentially lose out on about 10% or so.

I went thru this in RAH and saw ALL the tactics used in a negotiation. This is one of them. They give a small, meaningless raise to endear themselves to some of the more junior pilots who are less financially secure. This does 2 things: it makes the union look anemic and it fools many pilots into thinking "at least the company is doing something for me and not taking 1.9%".
When we go into mediation, which is where this is going, the company can use our acceptance of their "raise" as an asset when dealing with the NMB. It makes it harder to be released to strike, if needed. Then when we try to embarrass jetblue by picketing, they send a press release illustrating their "goodwill" and the fact that even after accepting a pay raise, the pilots remain greedy for more.
Its a gameplan started before the union was even voted down years ago. These are professional UNION BUSTERS that they have hired. The company is using the playbook and has all the advantages.

Let's give the 15,000 hourly employees 8% raises so we can fool 600 new pilots into settling on a poor contract.

Theyll fool more than 600 my friend. The 8% for the rest of the company is to try and stop unions from even being voted on. Its a smart tactic- they even have guys like you not seeing it.

This is the dumbest f-ing logic I've read on this board....and there has been some really doozies here too....
Not falling for their mind games? Are you kidding me?
I couldn't give 2 sh1ts what the company thinks they're trying to do.
I have ZERO concern that our NC, MEC/LEC will continue to fight for industry leading pay, work rules, insurance, PS, etc etc and this increase in pay proposal will not decrease their resolve to get that leading CBA and as quickly as possible.
Do you really think somehow if we agree to this 8% pay increase that somehow that's going to delay our CBA or result in a lower overall end product?
*** is wrong with some of you guys.

Keep in mind that the profit sharing now is not set at 15%. It's only that high because we have been making lots of money. Look up what it was in 2011 or 2012. It's only been high the last couple of years. This new PS is guaranteed 10%, now it's not. It also bumps up in high profit years. Even if it is just 10, it's still a 3% bump. Plus 3 more holidays.

I agree it's not an 8% raise with our current profits. Our profit sharing is being cut, can you explain how if we turn it down we can keep our existing profit sharing program. I get it... we want our industry leading wages and keep our existing profit sharing program. Our union will have to fight to get a good PS program in our first CBA, because our PEA is a POS and gives us no leverage. Take the 8% now or lose it. Don't count on a retro check this go around with a PEA in place.
