Oh yes however it does not stain the wallet so badly.

More importantly, the alcohol is still auto-gas free where I live, though BP may fix that...

Hi!

My buddy at Emirates said that they are getting a LOT of applications....almost ALL from furloughed or unemployed pilots, of which, they don't want either...need to be jet current past 12 months before class starts, even if in their pool.

They are getting more and more desperate for pilots, and have been lowering there mins over and over again. Qatar just lowered their mins again, and they are accepting DECs (Direct Entry Captains).

Atlas just lowered their mins by quite a bit.

Atlas just added more 747s, as did Evergreen, Kalitta, National, Cathay, Southern is adding -777s, and may get 747-400s, etc., etc.

Well put.

Regarding the impending death of tetraethyl lead that is always about 5 years around the corner...There are high horsepower engines that run fine on 80/87. But you have to go back to the 1950s to find them, and they burn about 30 gallons an hour. The ones who are screwed on the impending death of TEL are those with high compression ratios and low detonation margins (turbo Cirruses, turbonormalized Bonanzas, Navajos).

If they were desperate they would take guys on the street. They're snobby. They also can't fill seats because everyone knows what a terrible reputation they have to work at. Plus have you ever been to Dubai between Feb and November? Makes Florida in August feel like an Alaskan vacation.

Luckily, I quit right after my PPL... I started to see the truth in it all - the FAA, the Airlines, the ignorant and arrogant people, the straight edge 100% rule followers... I cut my losses. I've decided that I won't even consider getting the rest of my ratings until the starting pay for a FO is 40 - 50K (In today’s money equivalent) so that means I may never enter the business... and that's ok with me, at least I will still have a credit rating even if I am sitting in a cubicle - and I won't have to live with my parents at age 30 either.

I have friends and ex-coworkers that knew I was interested in career flying at one time and they email me asking things like - "is it true that pilots make 20k a year?!?!" "Society really has its priorities all screwed up!" The list goes on. At least some 'regular' people are seeing the articles about 3407, although it's a horrible and sad way to get the word out. Seriously tho.. 20K a year? I'd do better as a pizza delivery driver... It's total nonsense and makes me very angry. I wish everyone would just quit all at the same time.
