this is not true. i called out a clearly racist joke 3-4 months ago and got sh!t on, followed up with a temp ban. there is rampant racism on this sight and mods dont do **** about it unless its against their political views. at least be an adult, have integrity , and admit this is a right leaning echo chamber with a few nuggets of valid info. happy to take another ban for disagreeing, cause you know, if you disagree with something, you can just storm the capital and stuff.
your hypocrisy is astounding and you should be ashamed

Your examples are from a time that we don't live in anymore. Your solution to discrimination is different discrimination because of the past?
If the class is mostly white it is only because those were most of the candidates. For the same reason that you see mostly black people in the NBA. Is the NBA biased and in need of groups to help white people into the league? I guarantee that every woman or minority that met the minimum was interviewed.
You do know the difference between causation and causality which would explain this situation much better than trying to say that airlines are discriminating against minorities and women when in fact they seek out minorities and women to the point that they will allow them to interview with less experience than what is typical to get called in for an interview.
To give you a personal example in the late 90's and early 2000 I was a regional captain. I flew with around 17 Female FO during that time. I had over 5,000 TT with 1,200 turbine 121 PIC and a perfect record. I had my app in with every airline out there and was updating regularly but not a single interview came until 2004. Out of the 17 female FO 16 had either interviewed or were going to interview with United. One hadn't updated her app since getting hired at the regional and had no turbine time at all yet she got an interview. I asked the one that didn't have an interview with United why she was having problems and was told that she hadn't applied yet because she didn't think she met the minimums. I then told her put in an app and you will be surprised.
This was over 20 years ago and you are trying to sell us HR has become more biased during that time and are actively discriminating against women and minorities. I call B.S.

Exactly. My cousin tried to get on with UAL in the mid 1990's he couldn't even get an interview despite being a USCG academy grad and a C-130 commander with 1000's of hrs of search and rescue time in Kodiak but yet UAL hired a female in the same time frame out of Riddle with 600 hrs no turbine time and per her sideways in the DC-10. I've seen it before my buddy tried for years to get on the Phoenix fire department he always scored in the top 1% on physical agility and other testing this with a fire degree from the Air Force never made the cut because they had too many set asides. I worked for NW we had an internal hiring program for a very short time for the pilot group a buddy of mine an A@P made it in this was 1995 we had a few that were hired from the F/A ranks but had issues flying the line and were put thru extra training and still had issues always wanted the capt to fly the legs. One filed a lawsuit saying she was being discriminated against so NW had her fly with a female check airman who failed her as well. I am all for diversity and helping those who have roadblocks get the education they need but lowering mins and standards to fill a desired quota is never a good thing. You can always give minorities the edge in hiring if the candidates are close in flying resumes which they do anyway. Just like the issue with the cops right now give them the training but some people are not cut out for certain fields and not weeding out the problem children is asking for trouble.
I have 4 broken vertabrae, two which are fused and locked in with a titanium cage, more titanium in my legs than Darth Vader, had my face re-arranged and spent months learning to walk again after flatlining in the OR 3 times. I'm up to something like 36 surgeries, some big, some small, between the initial keep me from dying and being paralyzed emergency surgery, and a ton of follow up stuff.
She, of course walked out of it with nothing but a sore back. Like how the drunk drivers usually survive the crashes where they kill a family.
She never would have made it that far into the program if she was a guy.
Now imagine that with a 737 full of passengers.
As you can imagine, my medical renewal is FUN every 6 months. It's like 4 days of tests before I even see the AME.
Used to be worse. Thank god Dr. Chein convinced the FAA that most of the orthopedic injuries are a one time demonstration of ability and done.

I suffer daily from the military version of this.. Short story, a female minority student while being held to the same standards, was given basically unlimited chances to make standards. She ****ed up bad in a helicopter on a "student solo". I was the other student.

That’s nothing. In the 80’s my uncle Lonnie got shot down at every major airline. He once commanded a flotilla in Curaçao. Fought in three wars, one of which he started. Over two non-consecutive summers in the 70’s he cornered the Texas fly swatter market. He trained falcons for three Saudi Sheikhs. He threw a no-hitter in the minor leagues. In Mexico he volunteered as a coyote. Once he swam the English Channel high on LSD. And still, crickets...
