That well and truly sucks. Sorry this happened to you.
Recourse or non-recourse state? (for the house)
(Anyone who purchases a home with a mortgage really needs to understand the difference, and the laws for the state they're in. Your lender won't tell you, that's for darned sure.)

Two years from passing the same issues will arise. It’s a kick the can not a solution. When everyone stagnates or the combination of an age change with a major recession causes furloughs you’ll have a bunch of laid off pilots telling young people to do something besides being a pilot which is exactly why we have a pipeline problem now.
Fix the pipeline not the top end.

The age 65 increased sucked...and came at a particularly bad time. Just like then, the people who will make the decision don't care about any of us (or our finances). The only ones who got the windfall with the age 65 increase have long retired. With the exception of a few hundred older pilots we're all in the same boat. If there's enough $$encouragment$$ for the bill (or language) to be attached to a major piece of legislation then we'll just have to eat it...

I can't tell you how many times I heard that as a wet ink CFI back during the '08 debacle. To be honest I would have very likely left the industry altogether had I not been medically DQ'd from military service.
