Simple solution. Repeal the knee jerk reaction to the COLGAN AIR 3407 crash, CFR 121.436. Expatted from Europe to Asia for some 15 years. It worked here when all that was required was Commercial Multi Instrument rating to occupy the right seat of an airliner. Like the rest of the world, allow for the issuance of the R-ATPL.

The age 65 increased sucked...and came at a particularly bad time. Just like then, the people who will make the decision don't care about any of us (or our finances). The only ones who got the windfall with the age 65 increase have long retired. With the exception of a few hundred older pilots we're all in the same boat. If there's enough $$encouragment$$ for the bill (or language) to be attached to a major piece of legislation then we'll just have to eat it...

A properly administered class 1 coupled with a properly administered CQ sim cycle should make any deficiencies known. That coupled with planes that have automation that makes single pilot ops much more manageable than 20yrs ago.

Yes I stand at 6’2” everyday not just weekends and I’ve had the pleasure of enjoying both the military FC1 and shall I say the “cliffs notes” civilian version. If you’ve read my previous posts with an ounce of comprehension you would have seen that I also think the civilian class 1 needs to become more rigorous and pertinent to todays lifestyles.

These guys sound like they are addicts. Nothing bad could ever happen to them. Weed everyone else out because they know they're healthy and could fly until 80.

Then we need to update the medical process first. Increasing the retirement age before we fix the medical is putting the cart before the horse. Without a real medical system in place, there is no point even discussing raising the retirement age.
