Funny how every time the banks start failing and the economy is about to crash, they raise the retirement age and give us a 1-2 punch.

I feel like I've seen this movie before.

The legacy carriers have already hired for retirements and the covid travel bubble which is about to burst. If this passes, expect mass furloughs with 2 years on the street. Many pilots will no longer be needed until retirements pick up again.

it just had the first pitch, still a long ways away from the bottom of the ninth.

will it happen? Maybe. But not a done deal by any means.
You act like this is some controversial bill, It isn't. There is no political risk to supporting this bill by anybody.

Biden will back his transportation secretary who has come out to oppose raising the age. If this remains a separate bill, I would expect it to be vetoed.

If it gets tossed into lets say the debt limit bill, it would probably get signed.

No political risk?

I'm sure the thousands of airline pilots who will be furloughed because of this, and their families, will disagree. This is just more greed and money grab by a certain generation. We are back to 2008 now.

That assumes, incorrectly imoho, that the great majority of pilots nearing retirement decide to hang on until 67. Some will. Between essentially being medically retired on LTD, Pilot’s who’ve had enough and pilots who have enough I don’t see it being anywhere near a majority.

How many get out at 60 today?

Will absolutely be a majority, despite exhortations to the contrary.

Age 67 but requiring most tests above age 60 perhaps? I don’t think as many 64 year olds would be as keen.
