Regardless of how you identify you still have to possess the skills and aptitude to become a licensed commercial aviator.
If the woke members of congress get involved they may try and kill it. Easy to point out past hiring practices generated more white males on the seniority list than current DEI hiring practices.

Extending the retirement age exacerbates the sins of the past and rewards it. If they think infrastructure is racist, then it’s an easy conclusion that a date of hire seniority list created pre DEI needs run it’s course as fast as possible.

If WIA, OBAP, and NGPA , can campaign they have 3 times as many members on the bottom half of the seniority list, vs the top half, it shows extending retirement age is just extending income inequality.

so, he hasn’t said that’s why he supports it?

What do you notice about the co-sponsors? Not a single Democrat. Like I said, already dead on arrival. Will never get through the Senate. Probably will never even see the floor of the Senate either. Don't get your hopes up for those who had poor financial planning. Essentially you are going to need 60 GOP seats in the senate which is never going to happen, just as 60 Democratic seats is never going to happen again in the senate.

Not only that but it would be easy to convince Republicans' to abandon this bill by pointing out that signing it would result in the furlough of thousands of young pilots, destroying jobs, which is something they do not want on their record. Once again, dead on arrival. The politics of it is nothing but negative for those who back it. Because fact of the matter is the shortage is in the left seat at the regional level and extending the retirement age won't do much to fix that as the younger CA's are already gone.

Article indicates that the political motive is loss of service to smaller airports.

ALPA opposes.

RAA (regionals) in favor.

NACA (ACMI/third tier) in favor.

Doesn't say what A4A thinks, but I think they opposed it last time.
Trap the previously underpaid, now overpaid, and soon to be underpaid interns. EAS exists for a reason people. If the Walmart closes in your small town, then move. The regional system isn’t sustainable and this 2 year fix won’t have lasting impacts. It’ll just harm labor and make us continue to regret not investing in high speed rails that could pick up a family of 4 in a town of less than 1000.

So you’re saying that the WIA and NGPA ( both founded in 1990) 33 years hasn’t been long enough to diversify the career or OBAP (Founded in 1976) hasn’t had enough time to diversify as well. I’ve flown with a very diverse group in the last 20 years so I don’t buy the white monster keeping others out argument and I think the so called Woke politicians would be embarrassed to embrace such an argument. This idea sounds more conspiratorial than factual. The majority of the white monster generations have retired and I say white monsters with a heavy dose of sarcasm. The individuals that these groups represent are there for a portal into the career and you have to know not all said individuals are interested in aviation.

No I am saying that hiring today is more diverse now then it was 40 years ago and to think Democrat controlled government to extend the careers of a less diverse workforce at the cost of the more diverse group is absolute insanity.

Why can't we have 18 yr old 121 captains?! Or 16?

Never is a long time......

Also, how can a bill simultaneously result in furloughs yet still leave the RJ world undermanned? I don't see furloughs from this bill, not that I think it's a great idea, but politics has a way of making strange bedfellows and when the money flows in the right direction, stuff happens faster than you can say....wtf?
