I'd certainly deny a scab the j/s , company constraints allowing, but I'd deny the jumpseat to ANYONE who was not respectful of me or ANY of my crew.

NOT at UPS!!!!!!!
The lead councel of the FAA has told us the Captain must take UPS pilots regardless. If you don't, you will be doing a carpet dance.

At UPS the company owns the Jumpseat, not the Captain. And the FAA has supported UPS on this!!!!!!!!!!!

So much for Captains Authority. The FAA supports the Airlines, not the Regulations.

And you should.

Why make a fellow pilot move out of FC? That's childish, can't believe a PIC would pull that kind of crap.

Huh? Why would the FAA have anything to say about jumpseats?

As I understand it, a true scab is someone who has crossed a picket line or flown work that their pilot brothers would not fly due to ...let's call it negotiations... with the company.

CASS is the Cockpit Access...something something database which verifies a pilot's credentials so that he or she may ride in the cockpit or cabin jumpseat on another airline.

Not exact definitions but close enough.

Why don't you tell the whole story. The company convinced the FAA (correctly) that crews were using the jumpseats to pressure the company during negotiations. The FAA refused to get involved, other than making it clear that this was not appropriate.

Captains authority is alive and well at UPS, unless you are a weenie, in which case you never had it anyway.

Your the weenie. You must be a new hire manager. Capt. authority is not alive and well. So dont lie. The only way a Captain can deny the J/S is to have a SAFETY reason!!! This is what is written from the Company and the FAA.

So the Captain at UPS does not have control of his jumpseat. At this time we are not in Contract Talks- So why is this still written. And why does the FAA still support this language? Read the FAR's. The FAA Counsel has totally disregarded the Reg. And we will win this in the future.

Weenie-
