No one has answered my question about what technic would have less brake wear. Very simple - more applications (riding the brakes to maintain 10 kts) vs a few applications until you get to the hold short. You have any input EWR?
I use the few applications technique myself to keep down wear and it works well on heavys

Two days ago I looked at the taxi ground speed. 17 knots.
We still overflew by 8 minutes.
I don't question the Captains taxi speed, unless he's reading, putting on lipstick in the rear view mirror while smoking a cigarette and talking on his/her cell phone while taxiing out/in.
Then i might say something like, "Hang up and drive" while giving him/her the finger.

AAL gives atc problems almost anywhere they fly with the slow taxi speeds, complaining when we let someone go past you, wanting to push when you don't have your #'s, or we'll have our #'s when we get to the end as you slow ever more and still don't have your #'s. Other airlines wonder why atc just doesn't always put AAL at the back instead of letting them be a roadblock. The reason we don't is AAL thinks they are doing nothing wrong and are the 1st to complain about their "perceived preferential teatment" which means paperwork, pulling tapes, talking to the controllers involved. There is no one outside AAL that doesn't think they are the slowest in the industry.
You guys can run around racing to and from the runway all day for all I care. One of these days it will bite you in the butt. We'll taxi past you while you contemplate your incident report explaining a 30kt taxi speed with your speed brakes deployed.

Four and a half years, and that's the best you could come up with?

Slow day Mason?
I have my moments, but I'm sick of listening to Whiney RJ drivers who are still wet behind their ears complaining while we try to uphold the profession. It isn't the really senior regional guys (they get it) its the younger junior captains. Then watching them taxi around with their speed brakes open.
If they had any class, they'd start the second engine and fall in behind us.
