I'm sorry this is such an issue for some of you out there, but the fact remains that with our long check lists and our sometime lengthy waits for load closeouts, we mostly choose to taxi at a speed that some of you may deem excessively slow. For us, it is all about getting the stuff done while not rushing, a.k.a. being safe.

Why not get that stuff done at the gate? its what we did back when

Do you wait for the late numbers at the gate?

Fatty,

Thanks! I bet if you took a poll of the pilots on APC most would admit they have not opened an AIM publication in years (20+ in my case). I personally don't wish to dable in non military/airline minutiae. I took my 737 rating and my ATP ride at the same time and had many other numbers to worry about. With the aircraft that I was flying at the time and my ground responsibilties I didn't have time to memorize the little stuff. I guess since you flew kc-10's you had plenty of time to "study." Good for you, but please don't insult my intellectual abilities or we may have to discuss who had the quality flight time.
Personally I think a cessna instructor might be more qualified in some respects than allowing me to tanker while you read your AIM manual!

This discussion began concerning whether AA was engaged in a slow down. I apologize if I had any part in allowing this discussion to get off track. While I understand they might not be able to admit it, it would be nice to consider those stuck behind them for whatever reason. AA73 at least suggested that they could move aside while they "get their numbers." Basically, as the old saying goes...... Lead, Follow, or get out of the way!

Any number of reasons could cause our numbers to be late. I wouldn't put the blame only on the ops agent being slow. We will wait for the "numbers" and then push as per our operating manual.

You might want to consider chiming in or not based on what you hear on the TWA message board.

Just keepin' it real.
7576

as far as i'm concerned all pilots at AA are AA pilots. FliFast wants needs to continue the divide. He uses "My group" vs "Their group" "Red Tails" vs "Blue"

all pilots on the AA seniority list are AA pilots, anything else is sooooooooooo
2001.
7576,

You wrote, Here we go again, let's sling mud.

I wrote a posting defending your guys, next time before ranting with jibberish, re-read my post. Furthermore, by me defending all AA pilots it was an attempt in earnest to unit the two colors at AA. So much for you being able to accept that.

The reason I've been gone a long time is because you and your union wanted it that way. Don't go there.

Using your words, all AA pilots are AA pilots, what difference does it make if it was an ex-TWA Capt. I am more than entitled to have an opinion of not liking your guys but my post actually defended you guys. In addition, it was very clear that the AA pilots deserve pay raises vis-a-vis how much the execs are making.

There was never any inference that red tails taxi faster than NAAtives. Re-read the post, it basically says before we hang the crew as slow taxxiing maybe more was going on that meets the eye.

You my friend are drawing the division lines with colored pencils, not me. Next time add to the thread with something constructive or go to the other message board where this kind of childish behavior in encouraged.

And no sir, your post was not "keeping it real" it was pure flame bait.

That's because you guys actually have proactive management.

Our checklist item for verifying weights, speeds etc is actually on the Before T/O checklist - which is done during taxi.

See my above post... Our numbers get put in by the crew chiefs, who sometimes take awhile, especially if we're full. SWA obviously has a system where the crew chiefs/load agents can put in the stuff quickly, before push. It obviously works.

I once had a SWA pilot on the MD80 jumpseat, pulling into C12 at DFW. We had to stop short awaiting marshallers. When they came out, they came at a SNAIL'S pace, showing no motivation whatsoever in parking our jet. The SWA guy could not believe it! I guess at SWA, they come running out, if they're not already in place. I explained to him that at companies like SWA, there is motivation to get the job done quickly and efficiently. That has never really been the case here.

I think AA puts more emphasis on the "on-time push" and get the weights done later, rather than taking a slight delay and getting it done (safely) at the gate.

FF you wrote

Truly, I'm not a big fan of my brethern at AA

then you followed that with

lets not be judge and jury executioner about AA taxi speeds.

I took it as both ways, defending AA taxi speeds until there is a known reason. Which is cool. thanks.

But I did take the slam against your AA bretheren as a continued slam.

And lets go there.

APA and ALPA are responsible for seniority lists. Not me, not the line pilots. We had No say so.

Right now ask or have a Delta line pilot or a NWA line pilot chime in. Seniority integration is not decided by the Line pilots. It is decided by the Unions or Union or Union board.

I WAS NEVER ASKED TO VOTE WHERE THE FORMER TWA PILOTS GO ON THE SENIORITY LIST.

I am not your enemy. You need to fine tune whom deserves your anger.
May I suggest start with ALPA, then APA and then AA.

Not the line pilots at AA.

Then please ask yourself is this really worth carrying this grudge?

I am ussually the first to admit that I do not like working for AA. THere's a lot of stuff wrong.

But I will stick up for the line pilots.

Last week I participated in a info demonstration.

If you go back earlier in this thread I tried to add some info.

Best wishes to all.
